I think I started grinding there about level 60, but it took forever to whittle them down.

The enemies there hit hard, but their attacks are easily telegraphed.
What characters are you using? You should really be 1 shotting by now with Maelle. It's still the best spot to grind even in post game. Could also work on the tower if you're looking to get plat and slowly level.

I used Verso, Lune and Monoco, highly specced in Health, Defence and recovery. I didn't give much playtime to Maelle until the end, as she was squishy.

I tapped out on the grind around level 80. The enemies weren't a problem, but it all felt too slow and I was getting fatigued with it all. I also was expecting Act 3 to be before. I did some optional bosses but I missed our on some key ones as well.

Maybe I'll do a New Game+ at some point...

Yea I know how you feel. I would have stopped if it wasn't for my Maelle build. She basically starts the fight, one shots the hardest boss on the screen, then I use Sciel to give Maelle another turn and she does it again. There was only one boss in the game I couldn't one shot and I didn't feel like learning the pattern so I just moved on.

Sounds nice.

For Dark Shores, mine was to get Lune to two shot basic for melee, cast Hell, two shot for Monoco, Portier Crash, four shots for Verso, then after an interruption, cast the Light slash that hits all enemies. My fights must have lasted far longer though, as I looked for forgiving builds at the expense of attack power.

Yea in post game I did everything to make my Maelle as fast and powerful as possible but she was getting 1 shot. Second chance would bring her back and if she went down after that I probably wasn't going to win anyways.

Yeah, it's why I put both her and Sciel on the backburner. I found that the flow of the game broke up a bit for me as there were enemies that I had to learn to parry, which, when done right, was satisfying, but frustrating when I was being oneshotted.

Honestly, I would have preferred a button to cycle the teams around, give them all a chance to shine.

Yes one thing I hated is the slowed leveling for characters not in battle. It's just a pointless system from old JRPGs that serve no purpose. It pretty much put me in a position where I never wanted to use Verso/Monoko.

Well I tend to form attachments to my characters early on, so I'd just rather stock with them instead of taking one of them out to add a character that is introduced later.

I just wished that Gustave didn't die. He was the best.

I agree and they really tricked me because I thought he was coming back. A portion of his skill tree was locked for me still but i guess that was just a trick.

Indeed. Bastards...

As soon as I saw him screw around with looking for rock, I had a terrible feeling of dread...

I thought I accidentally went into the Expedition 33 thread lol. Anyway loved that game but moved onto Doom The Dark Ages. So far I’m enjoying it a lot more than I did initially. I still think the first level wasn’t a great intro to the game. It was one of the weaker levels imo. Also been playing a bit of Capcom Collection 2 on the portal. Such a great selection of games, this is the first of the collections I’ve purchased. I couldn’t pass up on games like Capcom vs SNK 2, Power Stone 1 and 2, and Project Justice. Wish it was Rival Schools instead but can’t complain too much. Getting the plat requires beating the game in arcade with every single character from each game so should take a while

I don't know. Slowed leveling is kind of generous compared to the old school games, where they wouldn't get any experience at all. Same with characters who die in battle. In older games, they didn't get shit and if you ran into a section where you were forced to split up your party, it was a nightmare. This one isn't too bad, as I think they predicted most players staying with a core group, and the others are basically left over as your emergency crew when your main party dies.

I do agree it's more forgiving then in past games I've played but IMO just get rid of it. It makes it easier for people to change up the party\core group. It just serves no real purpose is my main issue with it.

Monster Train 2

The first one was a great deck building game only 2nd to "Slay The Spire". This game remains the same. It's only real flaw, is that it's too busy to really get a handle on everything in a short amount of time. It's a game you have to invest significant time into to really get a grasp on all of the powers and factions, and know exactly what you're looking for in the deck you're trying to build. Not necessarily a bad thing, but if you expect to just sit down and "get it" immediately, it's not that. You gotta be all in, until you learn the ropes. It's VERY robust, with all of it's options for deck building, but that comes with a caveat, in that the more options in rogue-like deck builders there are, the more random it gets. There's a sweet spot for these types of games, and this one goes a bit above that sweet spot.

That said, if you're into these games, it's great. I like it a lot, and think they improved ever so slightly on the original. It's got a million things to unlock, and when a run really clicks, it's awesome. There's about a one in five chance you will get that deck to click though, so expect some frustration.

8/10

Rayman Origins.

Holy fuck this game is a masterpiece.
I think it's the only game I ever got a 100% on.

"Rayman: Legends" is also amazing. Not as tight, thanks to the "touch screen" controls for the WiiU, that were shoehorned into the the other consoles, but damn good. Those games are platforming perfection.

I am dumb and thought these were the same game. Gotta check out Origins.

My understanding is that a portion of Legends called "Back to Origins" includes a lot of the Origins levels, though the achievements are different.

I tried Battle Brothers. I am not sure what genre it is in. I guess it is a tactical RPG. It's pretty fun.

Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is a demo that is addictive. You play the role of a shitty border patrol agent on the lookout for zombies.

Pillars of Eternity Deadfire

Trying some rpgs out to see if I can get back into them. Tried Expedition 33 and just couldn't get into it, so I'm trying this one. Can't get into it.... Just so much going on in it. Hard for me to get interested in the genre anymore, even when I try and try. Though I did complete Rogue Trader. Maybe it is just the fantasy setting, though 33 didn't have that... It did have that weird stuttering that jrpgs love to have their character do.

"I... I uhhhh"
"Wha... What is, is it?"
"It's jus, hahahaha, idk. hahaha."

Ughhhhhh. Can't take that sort of dialogue anymore.

I'm going to give it another few hours and see where it lands.
