I know exactly the encounter you're talking about when you say you're getting your ass kicked by the skeletons and frogs haha. I had a lot of trouble with that one too when I first played.
Finally got past it after setting a record for save scumming. Only to be locked in a cage with a bunch of soldiers and a dozen skeletons waiting outside for the gate to open. And of course two of those giant scorpions with machine guns hiding on the steps behind them.

There is some serious bullshit in this game lol. Fromsoft has nothing on these guys.

Oh you see a health pickup in the corner? Don't do it! Insta gangbang.

Balatro

Fun little game, that mixes a deck builder/rogue lite...thing, with poker. If you know poker, you can play this game. The whole goal is to beat the house ante, which starts at a mere $300 chips, and progresses from there. You earn money by scoring points with poker hands with a hand of 9 or so cards. Where it gets interesting, is when you get rewarded with stat boost cards, that can give you multipliers and whatnot for your hands. "Jokers" are the big game altering cards, that can and will alter any given run. You might get one that gives you extra points for any face card you play, for example. It's also got other "one and done" stat boosting cards, that help you out along the way.

Only place where it fails, is that it's extremely random. The best run in the world won't matter, if you don't get the cards you need to cash in on your bonuses. It's a blessing and a curse, as every run is unpredictable and fresh, but it's no true deck builder where you can get a feel for a successful run, like "Slay the Spire" for instance, where you go in knowing the cards you're looking for.

Still though, great time waster. One for the bus, train, or plane, to make the time fly by.

Just started playing this one, too, and I am really liking it so far. Some of the boss blinds are bullshit, like getting your cards face down. I don't think I have beaten the extra large boss blind yet, either.

Gears 5

Okay, I'm officially hooked on this new iteration. Didn't think I would be, but this is a boomer's wet dream. They never forgot what made the games fun. I didn't think I'd be so damn obsessed with it, but they nailed everything...except for that GOW4 ending. It was so bad. The game just ends after you complete what feels like a bit of side mission to what was all going on. Luckily, I could just hop into "Gears 5" right away to continue the story. If I played GOW4 at launch, I'd be just as pissed as I was completing "Halo 2". Just a big blue balls ending.

Anyways, "Gears 5" is great, and they addressed my big complaint of GOW4. Namely, more exploration, or more specifically, purpose for exploration. There were a lot of zones in GOW4 that just didn't make any sense. You'd see an off-beaten path somewhere, and nothing would be there. Not even a collectable. The hidden room was just...there. In this game, you get a cool robot that fights by your side that can be upgraded, and you scour for parts to do it. It breaks up the constant action, and lets you breathe a bit after every skirmish. Nice little touch that was sorely needed.

Other than that, it's the same GOW spectacle. Graphics are insanely good, and you move from set piece to set piece just kicking the shit out of anything and everything. Michael Bay would be proud. I've heard this goes off in a different direction after the initial few stages, so I'll see what's what. I'm still playing as JD, and since his girlfriend is on the cover, I figure some bad shit is about to happen to him, that hands the reigns over to her.

Hats off to the new developers. They nailed it.

Been a few years and downloaded the following from the ps store

RE4
Cyberpunk ( currently playing - meh and way too much talk time)
Deathloop
Undisputed

A few others but the titles aren’t coming to me atm

Demon's Souls remake

So far so good. Game looks and plays great and I'm enjoying the slower gameplay, having recently played Bloodborne, this is a nice change of pace. Decided to sword and board my way through it because I've read that magic is super op in this game. These blue eyed bastards that heal themselves can fuck right off though.
Bloodborne sets the bar high for gameplay experience. I had my firstborn with Demons Souls remake but managed to complete it. Now with my second born I just don’t have the patience to complete Dark Souls 3

Bro.... great fight and the game only gets better. I'd put DS3 behind Elden Ring and Sekiro as my 3rd favorite Fromsoft game. Way ahead of Bloodborne.
Yep completed Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1 , Demon Souls and Elden Ring. There’s something about the lore in Bloodborne that reminds me of my hometown of London lol maybe that’s it. Now if they did a remake of Bloodborne …!

Don't sleep on Dark Souls 2. It's a little weird but it's awesome. Sekiro also. GOTY for a reason.

Man I’m terrible at the whole parrying so don’t know if Sekiro is a good shout. Let me complete DS3 first anyway if I ever get around to it

Way ahead of Bloodborne.

Yea can’t agree with you there @mb23100 - Bloodborne is one of the best games of all time period. Let alone in the souls series .
It's the greatest all-time journey for me after only Final Fantasy VI. The title is a masterwork, artistically and narratively.

Waiting for Atomfall...

I put off buying Wilds because I just didn't want to spend the money this month.

I did want to try Avowed, though gameplay footage made it seem mediocre...

FFVI is a literal masterpiece and I hope one day it gets a proper remake so those unable to have experienced it originally can finally do so.
