Just finished Yakuza 0. Finished over 95% of the game, which I don't normally do, but most everything in the game was fun and it wasn't a chore to do it all. Aside from Kiwami 1 and 2, was the best game I've played in the series, unless you consider Judgment part of it, which I feel is better than any related game I've played. I'm on 6 now, and glad to be back to the Dragon Engine. 3, 4, and 5 were rough getting through. Will probably skip Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth for a while, not looking forward to turn based RPG, and Yakuza Pirates is gonna be the GOAT, anyway, will finish 6 and go straight to that. Still have Ishin to play, too.
Don’t sleep on LAD,when I first heard it was turn based I thought gross, but it turned out to be fun, good storyline to.

Will definitely play it at some point, but I'm not receptive to change lol. I have really enjoyed the original style of these games, kinda like a perfect mashup of of GTA and Streets of Rage. I'm just thankful that they're making spinoff games that are along the same lines, so I can still enjoy games within that universe, if I don't end up really feeling the newer mainline games. Really pumped for the Majima game, they should consider making a full-fledged spinoff series with him as the lead. He's the best character in the series, imo

Jedi Survivor

I believe I'm nearing the end. Just beat Rayvis. Awesome fight, that made me realize just how good the...err...cross blade is(the big heavy sword). Took me a few tries, but even with his second phase, it never felt cheap. It's been a hell of a ride, and is appropriately starting to wind down, even though there is so much shit left on the map to do. Might fuck around for a bit and try to close some "rumors" out after I finish up the campaign, since some of them can lead to whole new areas with bosses and whatnot.

Only complaints would be that the beast enemies are a bit bullshitty. The hit boxes just don't feel right with them, and remind me of certain DS2 enemies that seemed to be able to ignore certain evasion techniques. They are just not fun to fight. The Rankkors are a whole new level of bullshit too, but at least they were optional. The game in general can overstay it's welcome as well, if you lose focus and try to do everything. Some of the platforming can get a bit annoying too, as do some of "enemy gauntlet" areas, where you just get overwhelmed due to the nature of the combat system that doesn't always play fair with mobs. The "gardening" activity is completely pointless as well, minus opening up a shortcut to a new area.

Overall though, damn fine game. One of the few big AAA releases in recent years that I've been hooked on to the very end.

9/10

LAD was the game that got me into the series. Top 3 game for me in the series definitely give it a go. There's some amazing cameos in it and Ichiban Kasuga is a refreshing change to someone stoic like Kiryu or insane like Goro lol

I usually play games for free on gamepass or wait till they're on sale, but I'll probably get AC shadows day 1. Plus I was reading there is a base building component so I'm sold af.
I would hold off. It's getting a lot of negative press currently. And not just because of the gender and race-swapping concerns.

Other than that, what is it? Seems like a lot of the other complaints are minor, but getting blown up because the game has become a content creating machine for influencers.

Yea to me the game looks great. Well as far as the stealth gameplay goes. I have no desire to play as the black samurai guy simply because I don't like AC games for the action.

I've really not been given a single ounce of negative feedback about it. Most everyone is in agreement that the last two mainline games were high quality and fun. I've basically gone in order, as far as story goes, save for 0. I played the Kiwami games rather than the first two actual games, them 3, 4, 5, and then 0, kinda going off its release date. I'm on 6 now, and LAD would be next. I'd suggested I'd skip right to Pirates, but have a feeling I will be lost on some things, bc it is in Hawaii, so obviously ties into the overall storyline, and I think maybe I'd enjoy it more if I understood everything that happened leading up to it.

I took a detour between 4 and 5 to play Judgment, and that is my favorite game that this studio has made, it was excellent, even relative to the Yakuza/LAD games. I've got Lost Judgment I still need to play, and LAD Ishin, so no telling which direction I will go next.

I've actually kinda put 6 down and am playing Trek to Yomi, which is probably the most beautiful game I've ever played. One of our Sherdog buds says it is art, and I kinda agree.

Even infinite wealth was a great a must play to follow the storyline after lad, there’s about a million things you can do and places to gamble at. Recommend grabbing that to.

Hyped for yakuza: pirate, even yakuza nerds that live yakuza 24/7 aren’t sure what we’re getting. The ship play looks meh but the rest of it looks top notch as usual.

They also need to bring the “Internet cafes” from the old yakuza series back with hot Japanese chicks (just a suggestion).

I knocked out the internet cafes within like 2 hours when I started playing 6 lol. One thing I appreciate about this series, all of these female background characters (or like 90% of them) did porn. Not that I'm a porn addict or anything

playing some tokyo xtreme racer and it's pretty cool. it's still in early access but the full launch shouldn't be too much farther away. 3-4 months or so they're estimating.

i have fond memories of playing txr zero way back like 20 years ago on ps2. i was gonna snag the rom of it and dive into it but then i found out that the studio came out of nowhere and dropped a bombshell on their fans and announced that they were launching a new and modernized version of the game for pc and then 3 weeks ago the early access released. so i did a little bit of sailing of the seven seas and now i'm dipping into it. it's pretty much what i would come to expect out of this style of a racing game.

It’s on sale in the digital store too. Would like to try it but with monster hunter and other games out soon don’t think I’ll have time. Trying to be better with my purchases this year.
Sooo I was having so much fun I went ahead and got the Season Pass for this Avatar game cuz I was having a lot of fun.

DLC1 was more of the same for the most part but there are some competitions and it's just plain fun. They also introduced legengary crafting materials and weapons, def adds some complexity.

DLC2 is fire.. they give your ikran (flying lizard) some abilities and now encourage you to use it for aerial combat and such.

I made a video of myself going back to an earlier base to use these new abilities. These are the results..

Super underrated game

Glad to see a lot of Yakuza love in this thread. I'm going to get Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, though I may have to wait a few days until I'm paid.

I'm curious about Avowed, as I really liked Outer Worlds. I can get it on Game Pass, but as I've just moved into my own flat, it feels like a distraction. I've heard that it isn't doing too well but honestly, this February seems to be the best month for releases in a long time...

This actually looks...cool. Snobbishly stuck my nose up when saw because Avatar. Fine showing, sir.

Same. Seems like all the controversy surrounding it was a bunch of smoke, as even some critics who wanted to hate it are giving it modest approval. I'll take that as a sign that it's probably pretty good.

Yeah, the reviews are weird too. The ones I've seen state that the game is really good, but nothing groundbreaking, so they gave it a seven or so.

Me personally? I want to try it, but I don't want to commit to anything right now, until I have some things from my move cleared out the way. Even LaD: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, might be shelves for a few days, until payday.

I've also developed sciatica over the last few months and even though my back had healed, the nerve in my leg still aggravates when sitting down. That hasn't helped matters.

I probably wouldn't have bought Avowed. It looks okay, but I really liked the combination of sniping and slowing time in Outer Worlds.

I'm at the end of Alan Wake 2 now. Will probably beat it tonight. All I can say is this game is amazing. Remedy is such an amazing developer and they haven't missed with me at all. Quantum Break was their weakest title for me and even then I still enjoyed it.

I can see why people hated it there were so many sections that just involve walking around and moving through the levels. I don't know though it's just done well for me and I loved it. No question I'll be getting the plat already at like 85% very easy plat to get thankfully.

It's such a shame they are releasing this DOA MP game. Good to hear the game is now profitable also.
