Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

Off to the races now. This game is spec-fucking-tacular. I've still got some minor gripes about the environment not always giving you the right visual cues, but that's about it. The level design is sooo much tighter than the original, and it all culminates to become a great Souls-like adventure, where you can just play it however you want, and turn a corner and discover some mini-dungeon or secret path to whatever, that just adds to the density of the world(albeit a little more streamlined). The difficulty is just right(on default settings), and the game just keeps giving.

One more gripe, although it can't be fixed. If it had a real loot system, where better weapons and armor could be discovered, it would be perfect. It's still pretty fun seeking out all of the cosmetics, but I feel like it's a missed opportunity to render most exploratory elements down to unlocking haircuts and clothing, rather than improvements for your gear. You'll explore some optional dungeon or whatever, and outside of some basic powerups, your prize will be some random part for your lightsaber/robot buddy that does fuck all but ever so slightly change the appearance of said items. The next game should definitely put some stats on that shit.

Just fought some one armed Sith dude, and while he was easy as piss, the actual presentation of the fight was epic as all fuck. The build up, the fight, the bittersweet ending....*chef's kiss*. I didn't quite feel the ying and yang of the sword fights in Sekiro(probably because I was shit at the game), but I felt it in this game. I'm not even a huge fan of Star Wars and the whole lightsaber duel shit, but here...it was amazing. Feels like I've been playing the game for 30 hours, but I'm only like 10 hours in. That's a good sign.

@Valhoven I saw you quote me the other day - I have 167 cars currently. It’s been awhile since I had the time to race, but snuck on today for a few rounds and bought a beautiful 91’ Porsche

Been playing Clone Hero on and off as well as Payday 3 since they released Jacket from Hotline Miami as a playable character.

Hotline was the entire reason I made a steam account so it was an instant purchase for me.

Speaking of Hotline Miami - has anyone seen the trailer for the spiritual successor? It's called Jackal. Takes place in the 70's and looks incredible.

Payday 3 is free on PlayStation right now and I remember playing a beta, demo, or something previously. Thought it cool but heard it wasn’t well-received at launch for reasons?

I fucking loved Jedi Survivor. Great story and really fun gameplay, if not a bit floaty.

Was really excited for Fallen Order, but I just couldn't get into it. It just felt like a chore to play even though it was extremely similar. The loot system was pretty bad and there was little reward for exploring other than cosmetic items which I couldn't care less about.

In a series of events in GT7 with this bad boy right now, and it drives like a boulder with a rocket strapped to the back of it lmao.

You basically hold your position with other vehicles in class and then when you hit a big straightaway it’s like a sonic boom lmao

Yeah because the servers were GOD AWFUL back then. They're at least stable now. Shame that it basically destroyed the game for veteran players.

The character animations in general are kind of floaty. Just running forward feels like you're levitating and just gliding around, LOL. It's a minor gripe, but I think some physics work could be done to get that gravity feeling a little more natural.

Felt similar to regarding the original. I'm probably gonna give it another shot after this one, though, just to see if I was on crazy pills. This game is constantly blowing me away, and I can't see the differences being that drastic, but maybe they are.

I think I was just burnt out scouring every nook and cranny looking for treasure, only to come away with a different lightsaber hilt or BD-1 racing stripes. I woke up one Saturday morning and sat down to play and just couldn't bring myself to start up.

I think part of it is I'm just getting old and if I'm not having a good time with a game I will move on since my time is limited.

I remember playing Mass Effect Andromeda and putting a good chunk of time into it and was bored to tears and just out it down. I moved on to another game but after a week or so I thought I should at least see if I was close to the end. Looked up the quest I was on and saw it was the one before the final quest. Decided to just blast through it and finish it up. Sat down to finish and was like....... Nope.

I think another problem with my gaming these days is all of these open world games, I just get so fatigued towards the end. Usually had sunk a lot of time into it but just get so bored questing and loot hunting.

Finished up Bloodborne. Orphan of Kos second phase was crazy hard and I think i got kinda lucky because i was getting nowhere and then just panic rolled and swung every once in awhile and somehow got him. Finished Gehramn on my first try. It's an incredible game but Im not sure where it ranks on my Fromsoft list. Maybe fourth after Elden Ring, Sekiro and Dark Souls 3. I said i wasn't going to go right into Demon Souls but i probably will.

Been playing one of the gest games that nobody ever heard of: Blood West.

ImSim horror western. Sounds like a discombobulated nightmare but it's incredible.

Play Blood West.

I played it last year and thought it was pretty good. Not what I was expecting, definitely more of a slow paced stealth game where you gotta be super careful. I would recommend it too

I love the high stakes. Also it's a candidate for the best feeling weapons in any game. Taking an axe to the head of a ghoul sounds and feels incredibly satisfying. And that's to say nothing of the guns, which feel so rewarding. On one of my builds I went into revolver strength and range. Turns the Orb into a sniping magnum.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Not my video, but pretty close to what I feel.

I picked this up at Gamestop, along with a couple of other games with the store credit I got for trading in my standard PS5 (I have a Pro now).

Got this for $20, along with
Stellar Blade (haven't dug too much into it yet)
Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 - solid if a bit simplistic
Black Myth Wukong (haven't even unwrapped it yet)
Star Wars Jedi Survivor - great game, better than expected
and a PS Store credit

Out of all the games it appears I have spent the most time with the Avatar game. I'm not even a huge Avatar fan but I got it cuz heard this got some decent reviews, is PS5 Pro enhanced, and the gameplay is similar to Far Cry. At $20 it is a steal.

I just gotta say sometimes I think the hate Ubisoft gets is undeserved. This really is a solid game. Sure, some of the gameplay is borrowed from Far Cry, but it does differentiate itself in a number of ways. That and I generally just like this genre of non-linear games where you can explore, hunt, craft, make yourself stronger, and wreck shit when you feel like it.

I quit the game over this one back in the day

Did they nerf him? I’m playing the remaster and I beat him on first try. I found him very easy. Just hit him with arrows and dodge when he comes close

It’s on sale in the digital store too. Would like to try it but with monster hunter and other games out soon don’t think I’ll have time. Trying to be better with my purchases this year.

I dont know. I dont know if I used the bow or not, I cant remember. But def has frustrated many players beside myself if the internet is anything to go by.

I havent played the game since those times. But I enjoyed it alot up until then so maybe ill give it another go.

I kinda got better at gaming since those days

Definitely worth checking out at some point.

Best parts, IMO

The world of Pandora itself.

The hunting/gear/level system. The leveling system isn't built like a traditional RPG where you do things, gain XP, do more things, gain more XP, gain levels, etc.

Your level is raised based on the gear you have. The better gear is made with the best materials, which can be hard to find and/or earned by taking down tough wildlife. And even when you're hunting said wildlife that has the components you want, you are rewarded by taking down the animals quickly and cleanly.

There is no RNG here. The best components, gear, and weapons are rewarded to those who put in a genuine effort.

Shadow Tactics : blades of the shogun.

Wonky camera aside, it’s pretty darn excellent.

“Rumour has it, 10 shots were heard, but fifteen bodies were found”

Some great dialogue.
