International West Bank thread

Not alluding to antisemitism here. I haven’t experienced that from you. The Jewish supremacy comment is often hyperbole used vilify Israel in general, and it is certainly misplaced in your usage the context of resistance to a one state solution.

I have zero excuses for settler behavior in the WB and the extremist government who tacitly and explicitly supports Jewish terror. Settlers who attack innocent Palestinians and incite violence are terrorists, without ambiguity.

Calling Palestinians in the WB as ״pacified” is a bit of a stretch as there are constant streams of terror attacks with very active and large cells of Hamas (and sometimes ISIS) affiliated groups. If democratic elections were held tomorrow in the WB, Hamas would win very easily. Not exactly a population ready for integration and peaceful coexistence, right?
I mean theyre being physically attacked and their homes stolen. Of course theyre reacting violently. If the Israeli government would intervene on their behalf when they're 100% in the right, we might see the level of violence from Palestinians go down.

Unfortunately that seems as likely as me winning the lotto.

Ben gvir , a particularly heinous politician uk and aus have already sanctioned for shits and giggles has come up with a brilliant plan.

Gives them more weapons and powers... its going to get far worse.

They learnt that declaring them openly is negative pr when they last announced the 22 new settlements. They thought people wouldnt give a shit... turns out they did and its why they got the negative pr. Louis therox helped with that as well..

So now they wont say they are adding new settlements..... youll hear a lot of " military checkpoints " and " police stations " being created...and have settlers in the idf and settlers in the police directly.

And guess what the news will be when someone fights back against the " uniformed settlers "

"Terrorists attack Israelie police in west bank."

Justifying more lockdowns and harsher treatments And more seizing of land

Police launched a new West Bank unit composed of Jewish volunteers from the settlements in the territory, law enforcement announced Wednesday night, a move that sparked alarm from rights groups, with some calling it a private militia loyal to far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

The quasi-police force — whose stated goal is to provide an “immediate response to terror attacks” until the police and IDF troops arrive — has already equipped over 100 newly minted volunteers with weapons and tactical gear.

These squads represent a departure from the ‘defensive mindset’ and towards a combative, militant and offensive mindset,” said the minister, who himself resides in Kiryat Arba.

Ben Gvir, who oversees the police, has frequently touted his efforts to recruit civilians into law enforcement through volunteer security squads.

He has undertaken similar initiatives within the Green Line, but these squads have come under scrutiny for operating without proper oversight and detaining people without due cause.

Organizations that campaign against the settlement movement and the phenomenon of settler violence reacted with alarm to the new settler volunteer force.

Peace Now described the new force as “an armed militia of his [Ben Gvir’s] friends in the settlements,” and alleged that the police were “giving extremists power and support to undermine security.”

The organization also pointed out that following the October 7, 2023, Hamas atrocities the IDF had established “regional defense battalions” in the West Bank composed overwhelmingly of residents of settlements.

Numerous accusations of violence against Palestinians have been made against these regional defense battalions, and there are numerous documented cases of such units engaging in violence, severe harassment and property destruction against Palestinians.

The experience of the past two years of arming and granting authority to settlers within the framework of the army’s regional defense battalions” has shown that in many cases these are people that create violence, not prevent it,” said Peace Now.

Yesh Din, which campaigns against settler violence, made similar comments, saying that “as we predicted, in the last two years giving guns and uniforms to settlers assists their violence against Palestinians, pogroms in villages, and the expulsion of Palestinians from the lands.”

The organization added that the unit “will increase the harm to Palestinians instead of helping with enforcing the law against violent settlers.”

Last month, the journalists’ union appealed to Tel Aviv police after a civilian force led by far-right rapper Yoav Eliasi detained several reporters at the site of an Iranian ballistic missile impact without clear reason.

Responding to the appeal, Tel Aviv District Police decided its security squads would not interact with reporters, the union said at the time.

Palestinian terrorism is multifactorial but I totally agree that quelling Jewish terrorism would reduce tensions and chances or reprisals/future Palestinian terror attacks. Violence is cyclic.

JERUSALEM/ISTANBUL

Israeli authorities have stripped the Palestinian-run Hebron municipality of administrative powers over the Ibrahimi Mosque and transferred them to a settler religious council, according to a report Tuesday by the Israel Hayom daily.

Describing the move as a “historic and unprecedented change,” the newspaper said Israel's Civil Administration had reassigned authority over the holy site to the religious council of the Kiryat Arba settlement, adjacent to Hebron in the occupied West Bank.

The report did not specify the scope of powers transferred but said the move aims to facilitate “structural changes” at the site.

It marks the first major shift in the status of the mosque since the 1994 recommendations of the Shamgar Commission, which divided access, allocating 63% of the site to Jewish worshippers and 37% to Muslims.

That division followed the 1994 massacre by extremist settler Baruch Goldstein, who killed 29 Palestinian worshippers during dawn prayers.

According to the newspaper, the Civil Administration has long sought to implement structural changes at the site, including roof renovations and construction over “Jacob’s Courtyard,” which serves Jewish worshippers for most of the year.

There has been no official confirmation from Israeli authorities or response from the Palestinian government to the report.

In a statement issued Feb. 26, the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs reiterated that the Ibrahimi Mosque, also known as the Cave of the Patriarchs and the Cave of Machpelah, is “an exclusive Islamic endowment” and condemned Israeli efforts to transform the mosque into a Jewish synagogue.

The mosque is located in Hebron’s Old City in an area under full Israeli control where roughly 400 illegal settlers live under the protection of around 1,500 Israeli soldiers

Wtf. Are they trying to create riots or what's the goal here ?

Well. Yes. The more palestinians resist ... the better it is for bibi and his cronies.

Otherwise they have to keep bombing iran or syria. Netanyhu requires constant conflict.

He got quite the approval bump for striking iran. Riots or terrorism in the west bank would be such a win for him it would be suspicious to me lol

This settler lady on Piers Morgan is insane and psychopathic. I don't know why the fuck the regular Israelis don't denounce her extremism.

Israel is now hated the world over including places like China. Their reputation is in the toilet and I can't see it recovering for decades.

Obviously being Palestinian has to do with you making a thread dedicated to the plight of the Palestinians.

Sorry I blew your cover as a Palestinian, as it is clearly an attempt at more persuasive narrative for your political cause to be an empathetic humanitarian with no skin in the game than to own your identity.

Bro you're Jewish. The same exact critique of bias can be leveled at you.

This is how much the rest of the Muslim / Arab world things of the people in Gaza / West Bank.

Jordon, Egypt, Syria, etc... none of them want them.
Thats how countries felt about jews from Germany. Should we give the Palestinains their own state?

When they go to a cinema in Jerusalem, settlers keep the same behaviour as in occupied territories and attacks Arab employees while security services and police do nothing. You know Arabs the "equal citizens" that israelis boast about here

Two UK charities have transferred millions of pounds to an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank with the endorsement of the charities regulator, the Guardian can reveal.

Documents show that the Kasner Charitable Trust (KCT), via a conduit charity, UK Toremet, has donated approximately £5.7m to the Bnei Akiva Yeshiva high school in Susya, in the Israeli-occupied territory.

In March, settlers launched an attack on the Susiya home of Hamdan Ballal, one of the directors of the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land.

In 2016 the Charity Commission wrote to UK Toremet saying: “A donation to a school in the occupied territories would be a donation for the advancement of education and therefore on the face of it a legitimate grant for UK Toremet to make.”

The former Conservative party chair Sayeeda Warsi said: “It’s appalling that any British national should be engaged in funding illegal settlements on occupied land – and it’s even more disturbing that this is being subsidised by all of us taxpayers.

Concerns have previously been raised about charitable donations from the UK to Israeli settlements but this is believed to be the first time there has been a definitive paper trail of a major transfer of funds to an illegal settlement.

A priest at a West Bank town attacked by settlers in recent days has said he filed multiple complaints over settler violence with Israeli police and that nothing was done.

Father Jack-Nobel Abed, of the Greek Melkite Catholic Church, hosted US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee on a tour in Taybeh today.

He told Channel 12 news: “There have already been four arson attacks by settlers in our village. The latest was last Friday near the sixth-century Byzantine church — too close to its walls, which were burned, and to the cemetery walls and the surrounding area. Two weeks ago, they also set fire to our chicken coops.

“When I arrived and saw the damage, I almost cried. Nothing like this has happened to us since I’ve been in the village, for 35 years,” he said.
