Ok, so if no one else is going to post this...

Tbf in mma he's fighting the most unathletic humans on earth since every talended athlete goees to another sport and only the bums that cant make it anywhere end up in the small mma pool...
MMA is literally the result of these people getting pushed out of boxing. They had to find somewhere they could win. It’s funny though because Jones is an example of the type of athlete they were trying to escape, appearing and destroying everyone then leaving with all the accolades.

The craziest part is that he was covering some random celebrity, not even an athlete.

Some 6'10" really athletic celebrity named Dwight something.

This is his hip problem right?
<36>
Save face media from losing the white house.

Must be all those arthritises he has in his hip.

So he has arthritis in his hip and can't fight anymore but he can play in celebrity football games?

He looks great in a cage, outside, not so much. It's weird, all I can think is maybe MMA is is not an A-level sport?
or maybe because he does MMA and not other sports... I mean I've seen Dwight Howard throw a punch before and it doesn't look good.

Considering both of Jones brothers had full successful careers in the NFL, I am fairly certain Jones genetics are more than good enough to be an "A level" athlete. He wasn't exactly doing poorly in wrestling either.

Correct, people skillsets in one sport does not translate to other sports for most people. The only time where it is true are those freaky athletic-types. That might have been JBJ in his youth, but we have not seen that Jones in a long time!
I think he said himself he always sucked at ball sports.

Dwight Howard with 6 months TDD training, along with eye poke defense, would knock the fuck out of Jon Jones and Tom Aspinal within 3 rounds.

It wouldn't even take 6 months, and Aspinal is nothing impressive.

Ok, sure. I get that. But the fact remains that the greatest fighter to ever fight can't touch the rim or keep up with a gangly 6-10 basketball forward in a flat out sprint. Does that not say anything about the sport? Does the UFC have the best athletes and if they don't can we still enjoy it without getting totally defensive?
I would've thought jones could dunk, but then again, he'z beyond his prime, & maybe he could when he was younger.

MMA doesn't require developing the ability to jump high or sprint fast & so he wouldn't be developing that ability like a basketball player would. The pix of him posted above show he has gotten some air with a jumping knee in the past, but that's a different kind of jump than just going for maximum air for a basketball dunk.

I think the idea that this says something about the sport of MMA having lesser quality athletes is not a fair comparison in this case because MMA fighters don't need to be elite at the skills basketball players spend a lifetime developing. Putting a basketball player in teh cage or even having them punch the machine that measures punching power would be equally unimportant as to which is the better overall athlete. It's different skills they've both developed.
