Food & Drink "Weird" foreign foods

I watch a ton of 90 Day Fiance, funny that an American guy whose house is the size of a postage stamp to the point of his mum sleeping in a cupboard has a gigantic cage for his Guinea pigs imported a wife from Peru.

Maybe that was her condition.. if she's gonna come over there has to be guinea pigs to feast on in the household lol. Not uncommon at all that Peruvians breed their own guinea pigs at home for food.

I doubt there was actual squirrel in them but there used to be squirrel crisps (chips) in the UK I used to like.

I have pet and horse boundaries, endangered species etc but there's not much weird foreign stuff I won't eat. I draw the line at Balut because there's feathers involved but I had a tasty bile dish in Thailand.

I'm hung up on sex organs, snails/slugs/worms, and spoile dstuff like that ammonia maggot cheese and sturstromming. A little skeeved by kidneys (they filter piss, after all) but I've had a bit of steak and kidney pie and liked it. Insects are weird texturally. They're like the popcorn kernel skin.

"A savory pudding, traditionally encased in an animal's stomach, made with sheep's pluck (heart, liver, and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, and mixed with stock."

Ladies and gentlemen, haggis:

I've had it during a Burns Night, and I didn't like it.

It wasn't disgusting, but I found it hard to swallow.

Guinea pig is really popular in Peru

Not everywhere in the country, they’re more of a dish from the provinces, particularly the mountain regions. Of course, it’s only natural, as they were originally domesticated as livestock, not pets.

But everyone knows you don’t serve cuy to a foreigner like that unless you want to mess with them or color their perception of it.

Again, that’s a rural thing that’s likely to get you in trouble with the municipal police or your neighbors if you try to do it in the city.

I think you're underplaying it a bit, it's not just a plate of food it's culture and deep heritage.

A quick google told me that they estimate around 65 million guinea pigs are eaten in Peru per year. That's a lot of guinea pigs.

Feels like you're kind of on the defensive because it seems fucked up to eat guinea pigs or something. I don't think it's fucked up at all.

When you cook kidneys you take out the part that filters the urine. Devilled kidneys on really good toast are a delight.

I saw a video of cow tongue tacos and it has me intrigued. I've had buffalo tail soup in Thailand but I can't remember how it tasted.

Another weird one might be sea urchin. I don't care for the taste but I would eat them just because I don't like them.
Cow tongue is widely used in Slavic cuisine
