We have to respect Izzy for now on

Like him or not, Izzy HAS earned respect as a fighter, even if you dislike his style.

Strange.... posting on an MMA forum when you're not an MMA fan...
Yeah it's one of those things, some people just have haters and that's one thing but the absolute levels of bitterness one must hold with in themselves to not beable to credit such an incredible first round win for izzy is really really something to behold.

Cant belive someone who doesn't respect that amazing victory from such an incredible fighter would actually go through the process of creating an account on a web forum.

He faced his ultimate rival, didn't run the first time, Even called him out post fight after cannonier. Lost and took it like a champ didn't make excuses, gave credit. took the rematch as soon as he could took the fight to him. his 10th title fight while only being in the UFC 5 years.

First ever 2 time MW champion, 8 MW title wins, Amazing Career defining win tonight by Izzy.
I’ve always respected him as a fighter, and I’ve always given him props for challenging himself.

That said, as a human being the guy is cringe and petty, I imagine he would be respected much more if he could control his self aggrandizing and narcissism.

So what if the kid is 10?

well, he’s 10. He’s barely doing fractions. If a kid called you a poopoo head would you jump him outside of a restaurant? What if he did it in front of your girlfriend?
I guess there’s just a group of “men” that are threatened by children’s words so much so that they have to go tit for tat with them. And even after 6 years when they were 10 Lmao.

That’s creepy to me and sounds like a developmental issue. What Izzy did was petty but the lengths you guys go to defend it as totally fine goes way deeper into weird waters. Ya’ll got oxygen tanks and flippers at this point. Cheers

Edit: also, his behavior wasn’t checked. It was 6 years later. Anyone who knows anything about reward systems knows behavioral changes don’t occur if the reward or punishment isn’t timely. That’s 101. That’s why I keep making associations to this being some weird fetish some of you (not you in particular) have with school age children being “put in their place.” Idk if ya’ll were picked on or got punished too rough or not enough as kids or what but you guys sound absolutely strange when talking about 30 year olds getting revenge on 10 year olds
Ha, in one of the build ups for the first MMA fight, his kids were saying in a mocking way they weren't worried about the fight, since their dad had already beaten him twice.

I thought it was hilarious that Adesanya mocked them.

Sherdog will never respect him now

In due time all these boomers will act like they were always a fan
Just like for Jon Jones and Conor, right? Nah, fuck those guys too. I'll never be a fan.

And I don't have to respect Izzy, and I certainly never will when he acts like a disrespectful, narcissistic, diva bitch all the time.

well Jones & Conor have done some awful things

But Izzy is an active champ and has fought everyone.

Just give it time, you'll at least respect his fighting prowess

I laughed, but still found it petty and weird. Funny in the same way I find Beavis and Butthead funny.

As a fighter? I always respected him and even more now

Still think he is a douche and I look forward to the next time he's smashed

I don't really care anything about them than as fighters so respect is still respect...

That was a legacy making performance. You can count on one hand the fighters that have gotten finished, lost their title and won the rematch by finish.

To me, that put him as one of the all time greats. It's hard to come back from that mentally and do it the way he did. Also, it was good to see him get a finish again considering it looked like he was sparring for a bit in his wins. It lit a fire under him.

Izzy made a shit ton of excuses, he actually tried to convince the public that his peroneal nerve was compromised in the first round, and that Alex didn't even rock him prior to the finish.

He was totally delusional about the fight; he made a lot of excuses after Alex (6-1 MMA record at the time) took the belt.
I don't know if he said he wasn't rocked. He said he wasn't out of it. IMO it was a good stoppage BTW.

And Pereira definitely did damage to that leg. The evidence was there. He was doing even more in this fight.

But hey, cocky athletes be like that sometimes. Out of control.

Haha good luck with that. In a sane world anyone taking their time to go on the internet and post about their opinions about fighters should have respect for anyone that steps in that cage except for Masvidal of course.

Yea, that stoppage is very likely the reason Izzy was able to come back and regain his title. If the ref had not stopped it there, it was highly certain that Izzy would have been saying hello to his old friend, darkness and would have had no mental ground to build back his confidence telling himself he wasn't out of it.

There is also no doubt Izzy's leg was badly damaged in the first fight, he nearly collapsed when he tried to stand up after the post fight press conference and as Izzy stated despite training heavily to defend against Alex's calf kicks it didn't help at all and needed to go balls out for the finish before he wouldn't be able to stand much longer. Izzy was so impressed he told Alex he would love to visit him in Brazil and learn how he does it.

Izzy was living his best life there, lol. From the iconic celebration, to mocking the kids (to me didn't cross any lines) to the post fight speech. Perfection!

And I don't even like Izzy

Imagine if Connor lost to Khabib 3 straight times, but finally won the 4th fight.

Would people be like “See! CONNOR WAS BETTER ALL ALONG! Respect him!”

Izzy fans being more delusional than Connor fans is seriously impressive.

yeah I didn’t think it “crossed a line.” People over reacting it was just weird and petty. People here defending it like they salivating for Izzy to teach a 10 year old a lesson like absolute weirdos tho

I can send the video if you need me to, he literally said he wasn’t rocked which was insanely delusional.

It’s on his YouTube page, him reacting to the fight. His brother literally had to jump in and say “you got rocked”, even he couldn’t listen to the bs. He also had the ESPN MMA interview with RC & DC which lasted about ten minutes, and he says there it was his leg not the vicious left hook that had him stumbling.

It’s over now though, Izzy pulled it off. Maybe Alex can get the third fight with the leverage of the LHW title.
