Watching Khabib vs Tibau for the first time

Good shit man. This fight and GSP vs. Johnny Hendricks are on my list of bouts to watch on Fight Pass. I've never gotten around to seeing them, but they're so deeply-ingrained in the mythos of two GOAT of the sport that I feel I'm obligated to watch them at some point.

Khabib wasn't even training at AKA at the time not to mention Tibau was caught for steroids later in his career. Tibau might have the most ridiculous physique at LW though

I used to train at ATTATL, and go down to coconut creek on occasion to support my coach (Juan Carneiro/Jucao), who trained permanently at Coconut Creek when he had a big fight coming up....EVERYONE knew about Tibau's juice habits, and his weightcutting was legendary, meaning the sheer amount of water and his ability to rehydrate 25+lbs through IV in just over 24 hours. And, I mean....he looked inconceivably huge for his weight class.

I wrestled, played soccer and football, played rugby for 14+ years.....but the only sport I can and do watch, pretty much ever, is MMA/combat sport competitions. So I hear you.

Ok third and final round. Another super close one, and I can see why scores for this one were all over the place.

Tibau gets another quick takedown, but again doesn't do much with it.

Khabib is landing some wild haymakers. Tibau is bleeding, Khabib's cardio is relentless.

With a minute to go the fight is still up in the air. Joe and Goldie are talking like Tibau has already won. Dummies.

Khabib is hyperaggresive for the entire last minute and steals the round based on sloppy aggression. Tibau didn't do enough to win the round IMO.

10-9 Nurmagomedov

Winner is Nurmagomedov 29-28

I could see scoring it 30-27 Tibau or 29-28 for either guy. The one score I can't really see is 30-27 Khabib. Pretty hard to give him the 2nd.

Gutsy performance from Khabib. He won because of his cardio, aggression, and heart.

Final verdict: Weird scores, but no robbery. Fun fight to watch. Khabib has come so far.

Agree on all three rounds. And could definitely see an argument on the other side.. close fight.. people calling this fight a robbery are delusional

Who the hell is this ref? Some skinny old man named Rulon Day. Don't recall seeing him before or since.

Scoggins has that Wonderboy bouncing karate style. These guys are both fun strikers.

Scoggins outstriking Nurmagomedov, stuffs a takedown. Showing great TDD.

Nurmagomedov lands a big right near the end, but Round 1 goes to Scoggins 10-9.

Scoggins is clearly the better striker. Drops Nurmagomedov with a counter. I hate the term panic wrestling, but Nurmagomedov is panic wrestling.

Scoggins is much faster, good head movement making Said miss.

Nurmagomedov has recovered from the knockdown but Scoggins in control.

10-9 Scoggins, 20-18 clear as day.

Scoggins is very confident going into Round 3.

Nurmagomedov gets a takedown almost right away. Settles into guard.

Nurmagomedov staying active on top. Scoggins halfheartedly defending. Hanging on and stalls. Nurmagomedov is throwing hammerfists, and the weird old man ref stands it up for some reason. Terrible standup. Like Arlovski-Nelson bad.

Nurmagomedov looking better striking in the 3rd. Lands a headkick.

Scoggins is cut, but landing some shots. He has good, flashy striking.

Scoggins is showboating in the last 10 seconds. 3rd round is close, but scored it for Nurmagomedov.

29-28 Scoggins, pretty clearly. Strike stats favour Nurmagomedov in the first but I'm skeptical. Definitely a bad decision, I'll have to rewatch the first to see if it's a robbery.

Yeah I’ve tried the fish oil/ açaí thing. I’ve tried pretty much all (OTC) supplements known to man in the last 15 years and the only thing I do now is protein shakes and creatine lol.
