Watching Khabib vs Tibau for the first time

@Hellowhosthat

Ok so I rewatched the first round. It was close, but I scored it for Scoggins again.

First and third were close, second was all Scoggins. Statistically it is not quite a robbery, but it certainly feels like one. Scoggins landed a lot more significant strikes and was in control for most of the fight.

I don't think it was a fix like Sanchez-Pearson, just incompetent judging. Nurmagomedov was chasing Scoggins around.

Bad decision, Scoggins deserved the decision IMO.

30-27 Tibau, he outstruck Khabib 46-33 and outwrestled him. Khabib went 0/13 on takedowns

Mousasi has fought 100x better fighters than Khabib has.

Khabib is the can crusher between them ;)

Khabib wasn't even training at AKA at the time not to mention Tibau was caught for steroids later in his career. Tibau might have the most ridiculous physique at LW though

Tibau was 27-7 when he fought Khabib.

Don't try and re-write history into Tibau being some kind of unbeateable monster. He loses to Evan Dunham 7 months later too.

Khabib's best friend Islam popped for illegal substances
USADA finds Islam Makhachev not at fault for meldonium anti-doping violation...

"USADA ultimately ruled that Makhachev's testing failure stemmed from a "radiofrequency ablation procedure for frequent ventricular arrhythmia" the fighter underwent in Dec. 2014. As part of a follow-up treatment plan, Makhachev's physician recommended the fighter take meldonium "as a preventive measure against a potential relapse" in Nov. 2015. Makhachev then took meldonium for four weeks but stopped his use prior to Jan. 1 2016, the date meldonium was added to the WADA banned substance list."

Yes but khabib never lost a round in training including going against Luke. So a roided 155lber should be easy work

Okay so we're agreed that Khabib didn't score points on his failed takedown attempts.
I also don't award points for takedowns that lead to literally zero offense where the opponent stands back up immediately.

This fight is probably the clearest example ever of effective grappling/striking being even and the fight being won on effective aggression.

Khabib 30-27. Khabib 29-28 is also defensible.

@Ares Black Do Yoel vs Jacare. I remember thinking it was a robbery, but it was years ago and I don't remember it well.
