Watched Hereditary last night after a year...

It's not actually about The Godfather. You apparently don't see the hypocrisy in complaining about people who won't take the time to watch an entire movie before judging it when you yourself won't take the time to watch an entire movie before judging it. You have heard of the phrase "pot calling the kettle black", yes?
Yes, I've heard that cliche before.
And you know what? You've crossed the line into redundancy & I'm bored.
I've never been anything but cool to you & yet you won't let it drop.
It was amusing at first but now it's just dull & I'm over it. So, if it's that important to take some sort of pyrrhic victory from this, by all means, feel free. I'm done with this subject.

I wanted it to be better than it was. I was hoping for something great, but it was just good. There haven't been many horror films in the past 10 years that I've really loved. I've been watching more older more obscure horror films I've missed over the years though, as many have been coming out on blu-ray from the likes of Vinegar Syndrome, Severin, and Mondo Macabre.

OK, spill the beans. What are these obscure horror films that you've been checking out?
As a fellow connoisseur, I'm really interested to hear about what you've been watching lately.

I remember laughing at how boring and lame it is, and shutting it off after about an hour.

It's a bit weird that you couldn't at least see where the movie was going. Do you only like movies that throw shit in your face every two seconds?

I also recently rewatched her in The 6th Sense, and she's fucking brilliant in that one as well. Another Oscar-worthy performance. She was robbed, but at least nominated. Not that it really matters of course

Wow, thank you. I had no idea she was in the sixth sense.

Yeah you were complaining about other people doing to Hereditary what you do with The Godfather. Still seems like you don't quite get that.

It was good, but fell apart towards the end. I understand that the movie was supposed to be a slow burn, eventually leading up to a more dynamic finish, but the last ten minutes felt like a whole other movie.

It doesn't go the conventional route. With subsequent viewings it got a lot better. The minute details in the background are very easy to miss the first couple times. Closest thing to Kubrick since Eyes Wide Shut

Just ignore him, I'm the type of person that have goldfish memories and even I remember him keep blabbering about Godfather and your opinion on it in seemingly every single film thread recently. Almost all his replies to yours is going over and over and over about the same thing just phrased differently. I'm not sure what started it but damn, even I'm bored reading the back and fore.

Just ignore him.

So those movie buffs on here will know I thought Hereditary was one of the horror films I've ever seen and I wrote a few long reviews breaking its brilliance down.

Well after a year I decided to watch it again this being my third viewing of it so was open to being more sceptical of it.

Well, I have to say this is going to go down truly as a future classic of the horror genre joining the likes of The Exorcist, The Shining and The Thing 1984. It has aged amazingly even though only a year but it works, every single scene works, in fact, it gets better over time. A true modern-day masterpiece which is rare for horror these days.

The fact Toni Collette was snubbed of an Oscar is outrageous and reminds me why I don't even check the results of the Oscars, they are garbage! Her performance is a master class as is the rest of the cast.

If you haven't seen it, turn off the lights and turn up the volume and listen and take in every word. If you have.. Well, do the same, again.

Better than The Shinning, imho, as it's actually edited and sticks its landing. I still think about the ending. One of the best horror movies of the last 30 years, along with Silence of the Lambs, The Sixth Sense, and a few others.

Casting this movie as a masterpiece and me as the caveman with no attention span is classic ad hominem. Then the false dichotomy of if you don't like this, you must like cheap jump scares.
Maybe that's the same lazy thinking that led you to like this movie. :) I kid, I'm not looking for combat with you.

Blows my mind to read this. Kubrick just farted in his grave.
I don't get it man. I really like other movies you mentioned, so it just confuses me more.

Didnt like the ending but the journey there was interesting. Wasnt sure I was thinking of the same one until reading about the telephone pole decapitation. Id refrain from calling it a classic myself, to each their own.

Because he's complaining about people doing what he himself does. Judging a movie before watching it in it's entirety. He complains about people turning off Hereditary after 30 minutes when he does the same exact thing with The Godfather and then calls it a boring movie. If you don't see the hypocrisy in that, I don't know what to tell you. I'll call it out whenever it comes up though. Put me on ignore if you don't like my posts.

I'll have to re-watch...I think people hyped it up to me so much that nothing would meet expectations, like Get Out

Lol, that's funny. Never a big fan of The Shinning: the lunacy is telegraphed within the first ten minutes of the movie, Torrance looks like he's ready to snap on the way to the Overbrook, and its just 2.5 hours of waiting for the shoe to drop. Doesn't help that its such a mean spirited film with absolutely nothing to say. You're going througha rough patch in your marriage, Stanley? boo-hoo... join the club. Hell, even Marriage Story is a better Horror film about marriage/relationships.

Absolutely. This horse ain't dead yet though. In fact it keeps trying to get the last word in, without admitting the hypocrisy in it's original statement.

You know what, dude?
I thought you were cool but obviously I was grossly mistaken because you have obsessive issues & I don't need that sort of toxicity in my experience here. So, I'm out.
