Wasnt George Lazenby as James Bond a really strange pick as Connerys successor?

I don't even consider his film a Bond film, I just ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. I consider him the worst Bond. I don't even think the movie was awful or anything though.

Expect to get flamed but I never understood the Roger Moore hate. To me it’s Connery #1 Moore #2. One of my top 2-3 favorite Bond films is For Your Eyes Only & The Spy Who Loved Me is top 7-8.

Plus the zeitgeist of 60s - early 80s was the best fit for that character & concept so Lazenby’s agent may have been on to something but he was off by about 10 years
Roger Moore was a good james bond, he just got too old.

But I will tell you what Moore himself said was the problem. He didn't think it was convincing to see himself in the action scenes, and if you can¨t buy that how can you buy the character. "Sean had that down".

Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel had the same problem with it. They thought Moore was too meek.
