Was Shogun a quitter like Bo?

i feel tapping to strikes is less humiliating than getting shadow realm KOTOed stiff.. Getting Shad face meme immortalized is much worse.

its like saying jds was a quiter against cain as well
bro jds was a warrior the fight with cain
also the fight with prime stipe

those where real damage jds took as well

I really hope one day soon someone dribbles your lifeless carcass off the ground.

If a pro fighter is put in a compromising situation and wants to tap to strikes, that's their prerogative.

You should be banned for fighter bashing
MMA fans are so emotional lol. Im guessing this thread is a response to everyone calling Bo a quitter.

Frank Mir ? He was to KOd tot ap vs Carvin. He pretended to be TKOd vs JDS. He wanted out. Which is fine. Since you are making this an America thing. Shogun made Forest tap to strikes. Forest tapped to strikes vs Rashad and waved of the fight vs Anderson. Bet you don´t like that. So what, let people tap. They are tougher than you. And humble.
Forest was flailing all over the place getting his head bounced off the mat by Rashad. He was also pretty much knocked out against Silva. I never saw those fights as him giving up.

GSP and Shogun tapped to strikes. It's almost as if tapping to strikes doesn't indicate the quality of fighter.

FFS guys. Tapping to a RNC is no different than tapping to strikes. It's giving up. Nobody in this sport, unless they get flash KO'ed, goes a career without "giving up," unless you're undefeated. It's a decision. It's mental. And it happens to everyone.

Might as well include gsp in the list of quitters then also frank mir

Shogun can win a long and ugly fight in Shogun versus Coleman. He can also take big shots and return fire in Shogun versus Chuck.

That's not a quiter.

Did JDS tap against cain? I thought he took his beatings like a man?

Shogun is a quitter, but it's fine to quit after you've been beat. It's like giving up in chess when someone has checkmate instead of playing it through. It saves your health. Sometimes you should tough it out and look for a win, and sometimes you have to quit to fight another day. It is what it is.

Technically Bo never tapped to strikes so who knows if he's a quitter. Actually what I saw was Bo started throwing hard when he was getting tagged, like he should've done from the start.

Shogun is one of my all time favorites, but it bothers me that he has tapped to strikes multiple times. Against Jones he might get a pass because young Bones is on a different level from any other fighter. But I can’t think of any excuse for tapping to strikes against Paul Craig. Fedor didn’t quit while prime TRT Bigfoot was donkey konging him from the mount for a full round. Frank Mir didn’t tap when Shane Carwin had him in prone bone and beat him to within seconds of being the first death in the octagon.

But then I see Bo Nickal looking absolutely bewildered when he gets hit, running around desperately looking for a way out. Shogun never really quit like that.

So which type of quitter is worse? Tapping to strikes or looking for a way out when you could keep fighting?
I believe tapping to strikes is a cowardly way to give up. Guys get hit in training every day. Tapping to paul craigs pitter patter punches is unacceptable.

That destroyed shoguns legacy.

I swear i don't think half of Sherdog has never actually been in a fight before.
Bo will be back.
He was fucked from those body shots.
You could tell when RDR was hooking him repeatedly in the face in a clinch as Bo was trying to cover his body.
Anyone who has ever taken a decent bodyshot knows what it does to you.
This ain't boxing.
There is no count from the ref. Look at Stipes reaction to Jones kick.
Bo talked some smack yes but he works for a promoter who asks his fighters to promote themselves.

There's a million ways to quit which dont involve tapping.

I didn't say tapping was the only way, but it is very effective to get the ref to stop the fight. Is there a quicker and more effective way than tapping?

So he's a quitter because he tapped on one of his last bouts? Great fan you are mate.

A spinning back kick from HW jon jones will definitely fold anyone. Bo got kneed by RDR and was immediately looking for a way out. Different situations.

By the time he fought Paul Craig in that rematch Shogun was well past his prime, this isn't even up for debate. Go watch Shogun vs Hendo 1 for fucks sake. Let me know when Bo comes remotely close to trading blows with someone on the level of Hendo.
