Was O'Malley "extra" locked in this fight?

Not sure on that. Cruz had crazy movement, was very well-rounded and great cardio before his ACL injury. Would've been a great fight.
Yea, there's not any way to know one hundred percent, but I think Merab cuts him off and it's another rinse and repeat. Dom could have also caught him early and knocked him out.

Dom had some great cardio but he ain't fuckin' going backwards 5 rounds against Merab, he's getting melted.

TJ may be interesting cause he was exceptionally well-rounded and had that EPO cardio of course, but Umar was that type of guy too and even he coudln't get it done agaisnt Merab.
Merab melts that EPO

He looked good until he didnt
Did he? He had one pretty good round where he avoided takedowns, but still got outstuck and out pressured.

Now he's forever going to be known as the guy who couldn't get the job done against Merab. I would have rather had him fight at least 1 fight between title fights. It helps move the division along by giving a potential contender a chance against a former champ. Instead, we've got a permanently tarnished O'Malley who not only got beat, but finished, who was making excuses for his first performance but ended up with a worse result after the rematch.

Too early for a rematch. Merab is looking really good and is clearing out of the division. I don't think Corey or Yadong has anything for him.

Either way, both Cruz and Dillashaw would match up better with Merab than O'Malley. Suga made some admirable improvements before this fight, but Merab is just a terrible match-up for him.

Sean did a wonderful job at defending against the takedown. He wasn’t 100% successful but he did a great job. Merab’s style is extremely pressing and let’s face it he’s done it to all his opponents. I was impressed by Sean’s TDD. I was hoping Sean did more BJJ from his back during this camp as it would have helped him 10 fold but it’s obvious the idea was to keep it standing and win on the feet. Overall Sean has some soul searching to do now.
