Nice try. I said on certain things their very rigid but outside of the iron clad fundamentals they can be very random. Random to the point that everything becomes so fragmented that it causes extreme frustration.
Worked with a guy that actually believed in the weirdest Jack Chick stuff you could imagine.
He knew that the Pope was the antichrist and the Catholic Church was the whore of Babylon ect. Probably thinks it's Trump now or something like that.
Thing is he is a good bush pilot and was a missionary in Port Heiden where he lived with his wife and kids, later he moved to Homer. I got weathered in there while fishing and became friends him and a lot of the natives. Pretty soon I was flying all over the state with him helping build churches and supporting hurting communities.
The guy is a great carpenter and has a stellar work ethic that comes from his Mennonite upbringing. Unfortunately he was always involved in the most fundamentalist groups in the state so I ended up knowing all of them also.
I hung out with the whole deal as long as I could but it became pretty much unworkable for everyone. Fundamentalism is it's own worst enemy and just keeps causing split after split. We're still friends, I have a heck of a lot of respect for him but dang it's bin one heck of a education.
They have no idea what to think of me hanging out with the Orthodox Church but probably figure it's a good match for a guy that believes in evolution and not literalism.
Oh, and then there's Peter Ruckman the King James Only guy.
There's a real treat, a guy hasn't truly lived until they got the pleasure of hanging out with these guys.
Somehow they got a footing in the village of Sand Point that I was king crab fishing out of, but that's a whole other story.
Wouldn't it be funny if someone in this thread was secretly rip?
