Yes, I saw and was joking.

I'm referring to a thread where another poster mistakenly thought you made a joke about @Kafir-kun's old username that someone else made. Rather than correct the misconception, you repeated the joke. You were using your ehtheist account.

Wait, kafir kun has always been kafir kun, right?!

Yes I've acknowledged this twice in posts #183 and #186, making you slower to catch on than me.

What joke did I steal and from whom BTW? We've got two resident self-appointed comedic geniuses here who aren't funny for shit so I didn't get it from them.

Fawlty is hilarious. Top 5 Sherdog comedian.

Bro I gave you that photo in confidence, I can’t believe you would share that.

Zeyde was a handsome man though, yeah?

Over here it's beer with around 2.4% alc/vol, which no-one actually drinks.
Always seemed strange to me that light beers were popular in the US.

I drink nothing under 7

Interesting. That'd really narrow down the selection here.
Only ones I can think of that I drink regularly are Southwark Old Stout, Coopers Vintage Ale and Prancing Pony India Red Ale.
Mostly the winter beers.

Works for me, I do like ales.

The hardest part of making a gun is the barrel. Luckily for americans only receivers are considered guns. There is a video on youtube of a guy making a AR receiver from soda cans. He melts the aluminum and uses a basic machine shop to machine it.
Some other guy made a small .32acp pistol with woodworking tools, it mostly works but the bullets do not spin properly and tumble before hitting the target, still deadly at close range but cannot hit a human at 10 yards.
There are some videos of guys trying to rifle their barrels but accuracy suffers. Not that big of a deal for improvised SMGs and you can make smoothbore shotguns.
Have a look at how long the New Horizons probe took to get to Pluto and then tell us again how people aren't willing to wait a decade for a probe to go somewhere.

My views have evolved left as my income has grown (really, I made a career switch that pretty much instantly tripled my income, and then it's kind of climbed a little since).

I kind of experienced the opposite. During university, I was center-left, and also never expected to have a decently paying job given my PolSci background. But then I got a job offer at one of the top management consultancies and have been paying about 35% in taxes ever since. I do recognize the value of paying taxes, but since I now have something to lose, I don't want these taxes to be increased.

One of my friends that was a hardcore "Obama change we can believe in" tattoo on his ass type of dude is now a Republican. Why the change in the middle of the MAGA era of all eras? Because he makes significantly more money than he did around the 2012ish time and now talks about how Democrats would force him to pay much higher taxes and how they support lazy people. How he's worked so hard etc etc blah blah. Things that if I even dare mention a few years ago he'd argue all day with me. But now that he sees it may potentially impact his finances if we go too progressive so doesn't approve of Democrats anymore.

Anecdotal ftw lol. How quickly the tide turns when your own self-interests are at stake. I've been trolling him non-stop because he gave me hell for a decade. I'll have to keep my eye on you all to see if your positions switch as your financials improve. In 2023 when you finally get that promotion you were passed up on four times, I'll be here watching to see if you change. Yes you, all of you. You know who you are. You.

I'm Canadian, so take this FWIW being as how I'm obviously not paying American taxes though the basic principle is the same, but I think it's sad and a huge strike against a person to accept the benefit of improvements in the economy (presumably under a Democrat, according to your anecdote) only to switch allegiance for the sake of continued greed. My financials have improved very substantially in the last 8 years, and if anything, I have even more of an appreciation for the need for social programs and paying one's share of the burden.

At the same time, it would be fair to complain if the burden falls disproportionately upon those at the lower end of the economic spectrum, but that is a separate issue from complaining about taxes going up as soon as you're making more money.
I just made one that improved my pre-tax yearly income by ABOUT 33% or so, and at the high end I could make almost double....

I'll admit I'm a TAD more open to SOME social programs but there's still a fair amount of that cynical/resentment attitude of "motherfucker... I didn't get handed shit either" in me.
I know you're a pretty reasonable person, so I'm just going to say that while I totally get where you're coming from, almost no one wants to be "handed shit"; when it's the difference between living on the street begging and being "handed shit" would you prefer the former? When it's the difference between having to choose, meds or food, or both meds and food, would you prefer the former? As a society that values reducing suffering and improving quality of life for all its citizens, shouldn't it be a duty to ensure there is shit available to be handed out when needed?

To my way of thinking, there's nothing wrong with a little personal selfishness along the lines of "not wanting" taxes to go up, but let's say you were assured the people at the top of your organization, the heads of yet larger ones, and the people making great amounts of money from them, were all paying their share, and that you could see the positive results stemming from said tax revenue, would you be more willing to accept an increase? I.e. let's say you could be assured your taxes were being used to help the country as a whole and that tax avoidance was being effectively addressed, would you still object if the alternative was lower taxes resulting from the election of an odious criminal?

Pleased to see that the majority are sensible in this poll.

How can aliens be real if our eyes aren't real

How do you feel knowing your taxes go into the pockets of serious criminal gangbangers who are on welfare while they profit enormously tax free off crack, heroin and cocaine?

Let me put it like this, we're just building a house (brick and mortar), and as usual in these cases, this is stretching our capabilities, so right now, I oppose any tax increase and will vote against parties that tell me they want to (effectively) increase my taxes.

Generally speaking, I am glad we have a high tax level because it surely helps with infrastructure and social cohesion. And Trump is eroding the financial foundation of the US with his short-term strategy. (Though the US will still be better off in the next crisis as there still is leeway for the central bank as opposed to the ECB.)

I am in favor of taxing wealth, and I am also in favor of increasing taxes on very high incomes (say, above 300k a year). Ideally I would spend more on infrastructure, education, military (mainly due to equipment problems), etc. and less on social issues (currently 45% of the German federal budget goes there).

But my main concern is ensuring I can make ends meet (given our situation, I am in the top 10% of earners, so I don't want to complain), and maintaining social stability (because I am actually quite satisfied and don't want to lose what we have).

Have we explore the reptiloid angle already? Aliens PCs visiting us might also have well advanced technology and therefore could observe us by simply blending in visually.
