Well, what worked really well on Democrats in 2016? I'm curious.

Opposition to Trump was and still is a strong enough position that we don't need fantasy policies attached to it. People just don't like Hillary and she ran a bad campaign on top of it.

You are gonna have to lower your standards and fuck some guy with black feet if you truly wanna earn the title of degenerate

<45>

Right. The number (males) is actually relatively low thanks in large part to the aforementioned. I'll definitely know all has been lost the day I end up sleeping with someone who doesn't have visible abs.

Dont ruin degenerate for me dude and dont encourage those people to get a new buzzword either :)

The Nazis used to have shows of ''Degenerate Art'' and ''Degenerate Music'' (Entartete Kunst/Muziek) to ''scare'' the normie germans. On display were things like dadaism, and the works of arnold schoenberg. Fascists are, at their heart of hearts, a bunch of fuddy duddies.

The stakes look very similar. Four years of Trump.

The boring moderate didn't cut it for your team last time. Tread carefully.

There are three major factors to consider. It is in your team's best interest to (1) nominate someone who generates broad-based enthusiasm. That's not Biden. Sanders is the best guy for that. (2) Rustbelt strength. Four of the top five (Sanders/Biden/Buttigieg/Warren) all have that, but Warren is probably somewhat weaker that area. (3) Ability to swing suburban independents. Buttigieg is your best shot there. Biden is okay here too, but he's so boring and sleepy. Sanders/Warren somewhat weaker.

Your best bet is Buttigieg. Second best bet is Sanders.

The good news for your team is that I think Sanders and Buttigieg are in good position to take this nomination. That's why I canceled my "Trump gets re-elected" bet. Things are shaping up poorly for Trump 2020, in my view. Of course, if Harris or Biden get the nomination then I will be betting on Trump to win re-election.

The stakes are not similar, we actually know what four years of Trump looks like now.

I didn't know Sinquefield was the money behind Stenger. That obviously changes things a bit...

Yeah, he was the money behind Greitens and Hanaway as well. And Blunt of course. And he donated to Trump and supposedly pushed for Betsy DeVos' appointment.

All in all, it would be a conservative estimate to say Sinquefield spends about $30 million a year on bribing politicians.

And, of course, he was the major donor in the effort to strip all campaign finance regulations in Missouri, defeat the Clean Missouri referendum in 2016, and then ultimately defeat the law earlier this year.

Fascists seem to suffer from thinking everyone got invited to the party but them and since no one wants to have fun with them they would rather no one has fun at all.

Yeah but the point is, it doesn't seem like that kind of bullshit works on Democrats or else why didn't Bernie get the nomination last year and why did he have the best polling at the start and now his campaign is basically over before the primary finished?

Delaney blasted a new asshole in the progressive agenda, that's why. He wasn't even making the strongest arguments against it! It's not going to get easier to defend as time goes on.

Delaney got no bump after the debate. No moderate did

That is not an intelligent frame, in my estimation, and looks to me like wishful thinking. Trump's RCP net favorability going into election day 2016 was -21.0%. Almost three years later, President Trump's RCP net approval is -10.3%. Assuming those two measures are comparable, it looks like Trump is in a stronger electoral position nationally now than he was in November 2016. To beat him, you should search for a candidate who meets the three criteria I listed in the previous post.

Delaney's polls aren't the reason I brought him up.

I only brought him up to demonstrate that if anyone seriously thinks about progressive policies like M4A in particular, they'll crumble.

But the campaign was mostly about opposition to Trump, or at least that's how it was perceived. And it really didn't work. You really shouldn't denigrate ''fantasy'' as much as you do. The dems need a little ''hope and change'' ''yes we can'' magic.

Or even better, peace land bread.

"It really didn't work"

Hillary lost by like fucking 20,000 votes. If she was an actual likable candidate we wouldn't even be here talking about running against Trump in 2020.

Dude....what world are you living in?

None of that is accurate at all: Bernie didn't "have the best polling at the start" as Biden opened 20 points ahead of him, Bernie has actually risen in the polls, the leftmost candidates in the race (Sanders/Warren) currently have a larger share of the polls than any point before, and Delaney hasn't moved up in the polls at all.

I live on a planet where I want politicians making promises that can actually be kept.

Again, I only brought up Delaney to show that even Democrats know the policy promises are bullshit and not going to happen in a single term.

These kind of systemic changes will take literally decades to plan and roll out. It took something over 20 years for us to get medicare for some and it only covers 80%.

What planet do you live on that you think we're actually going to see medicare for all that covers 100% within 4 years?

Also, IIRC, Bernie was the frontrunner till some time near the end of May and now Warren is eating his breakfast because she's just a better candidate.

It's interesting because Männerbund was one of the cornerstones of NSDAP ideology and there are all kinds of examples of state-sanctioned Nazi era artwork espousing the importance and virtues of male body worship and bonding; the regime had an open endorsement for work like Hans Surén's "Mensch und Sonne" (overtly racist angle, of course) and "Triumph des Willens" amusingly plays like a borderline pioneer in LGB film if you didn't know any damn better.

Yeah, it really, really didn't work. Voter turnout was down and the democrats lost share in some demographics. And here we are talking about likeability again (which is kind of my point), not the intricacies of health care policy (which is kind of your point).

Yeah, Nazi art was an extension of German Idealism. Idealism as an art form is dead from its inception because well, once you have the ideal...that's that. Art to them was to be representational and not at all abstract. Of course, this was all a post hoc rationalization of the tastes of nazi statesmen. There's nothing terrible coherent about any of it. When asked why Hindemith (a German) was on the list and lost his position at the Frankfurt Conservatory, Goebbels, not being a trained musician, said he was an atonal noise maker. He had experimented with a and polytonality in the early 20's but by that time was working in new classicism and folk themes. And of course, ''post tonality'' was perhaps first represented by Wagner himself.
