Oh wow. Nfl pre season starts tonight
Yup

Yall finna get clapped.

Also, that well sourced story that Cowturd references is straight trash. His only two named sources that are Aaron Rodgers detractors is dumb fuck "I almost died on the field with a fucked neck and a massive concussion" Jermichael Finley and Greg "I have an ax to grind cause I called Rodgers trash when I left GB then played 2-3 more years with shite numbers and retired" Jennings. Everyone else is "anonymous" and current teammates all supported Rodgers in that piece.

@Trotsky

This is sort of what I mean about taking him literally instead of seriously.

Can you elaborate?

Computer teaches itself to play chess better than Magnus Carlsen in 2 hours: ''I'm sure this AI thing is exactly the same as the cotton gin.''

Get in, losers, we're spiralling towards superabundance!

I'm definitely more of a techno-pessimist (I'd expect AI to have less impact on our lives than older technology). But Yang is wrong either way, IMO.

That's fine, all that is required for the revolution is for labour to be essentially worthless. Nobody is safe, just safe for the moment.

Not usually... but it's weird you say that, because I was considering changing my av to something Mad Sweeney related (American Gods).

Oh. Theres been a dude tagging "tycho, the god of luck" around the neighbourhood. Thought it might be you.

Packers fans are the absolute worst

It's actually funny that we're having this "discussion" because just yesterday @Cuauhtemoc accused me of holding the position that I'm arguing against here.

Bout how did he put up a solid performance? He talked about nothing, and was one notch away from "peace and love, orange man bad". Warren, Biden, Tulsi, Mayor Pete. Those were solid performances. Booker I didn't see anything close to that.

None of them really said anything if you want to play that game and Tulsi is included. She had one moment when she dunked on Kamala, that's all. The rest from her was just looking hot and being incredible cookie cutter with a bit of muh military sprinkled in.

Nothing she said separated from that pack of 1%ers she's in and nothing she said was strong reason for her to actually be President.

HA! No, the quote from the show about being the biggest, most unlucky leprechaun you've ever seen is a far more accurate description.

Also not something I'd want to advertise.

Also I'm not 16 ;)

Speaking of which @Ruprecht I have not spent any time with the proper novel but the American Gods show blows the graphic novel away imo.

Man, really? I found the show so boring, I found the book boring too though

That wouldn't surprise me. It's rare for me to like movies or television more than the books though, they just can't include the same level of detail and information. It's better if they just do their own thing and focus on the visuals and characterisation. Like Blade Runner and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.
Even then it's rare for me to prefer a character as acted to a character as written and imagined. I find graphic novels miss out on both fronts.

Been saying he's the best player in the league for a few years now. And right now it's not even close. Dude is a future first balloter.

Don't get me wrong, the graphic novel is compelling. Beyond manga I only typically pick up graphic novels after I've been exposed to the content some other way - and Watchmen or V for Vendetta this isn't - but it does have a bit of magic to it that I enjoy.

The show really captures the subtext of the story and floods your senses with it. Shadow's trauma and sense of unreality in the beginning, his first interaction and lynching at the hands of Technology Boy, Wednesday's mischief, the gravitas of Media and Mr. World all become perceptively overwhelming, as the consideration of gods takes on a primeval, pre-rational form.

It's intoxicating, but so was Hannibal to me in its first seasons, and showrunners for American Gods so far both worked on that too. Exactly how an adaptation should function imo.

There's even a Kaepernick reference!

Know what's scary? He's done what he's done the last 3 years with basically no Training Camp "warm up"

Have you read Tim Powers novels? I find he does that looming unreality better the Neil Gaiman (could be just the schizophrenic/occult flavour I prefer with his Fault Lines series).

He's just so good. Like LeRoy Glover, Warren Sapp, and Dwight Freeney all in one. And he's an easy guy to root for since he's both a good dude and he's been overlooked and underrated every step of his college and professional career due to his size.
