They're such angels. But unfortunately they have serious health issues and only live for about 8 or 9 years. Which is doubly sad given how lovely they are.
Looked it up, I knew they frequently had hip problems and thyroid issues but didn't realize how many get cancer. I saw about 50%. Greg, don't listen to me.

Happens so often. For every Breaking Bad, there are five Dexters.

Far more than five. It's nearly impossible these days for a series to not sell out if it becomes a hit. I'm still waiting for the next thing to surpass BB but haven't found it yet. I really really enjoy Barry but it's a far more carefree show than a drama imo. I actually would say Barry is the best show on TV right now.

Man, I don't even want to get into SOA. They phoned that in for quite awhile and the only thing holding it up was filling half the episode with a decent song at the beginning and end with each character pondering. It bothers me because that's an example of a show that knew it's point A to point B for the whole series yet it still fell flat on it's face.
I discussed this with another guy I met on this site one time on Facebook how Kurt Sutter is fucking AMAZING at creating characters, an environment for said characters, and the initial story arc... he just completely fucks up all the letters between A and Z.

He did it in SOA
He did it in The Shield

And he started the spin-off Mayans MC super good and I'm real scared it'll happen again.

Whoever that guy gets to do the music for his shows though hits it out of the park. The only real post-Abel kidnapping bit that felt like it had weight was Opie's death and the ensuing monster it turns Jax into.

Beginning of series he'd have ripped into Tig for killing the guard's wife. He'd have the same reaction Chibs and Bobby had.

You check out The Boys? It is blowing up Mayberry. I found it good, not as good as they seem too, but it is a solid show

I hate how I watch a show and instantly forget the names of characters as soon as the credits roll. I had to assume who you were talking about in each paragraph pretty much. S2 was good. I felt like they rushed it quite a bit and it wasn't better than S1. I originally said the show was a mix of Breaking Bad and Justified. S1 closer to BB and S2 closer to Justified which is a lesser but still fun show.

Seems like they were thoughtful enough to intertwine what S3 will be about (the Union boss conflict). My memory is still blurry since it's been awhile but I believe my biggest criticism about the season was there were way to many plots/episodes where someone gives the main character 24 hour ultimatums for them to complete. Maybe that's okay once or twice but it just felt like lazy writing at a certain point. It also annoyed me they didn't really fail at all during the season and the early political plotline became anticlimatic because of that.
I see your point about the deadlines. I think that Marty is a bit of a unique lead for a crime show because he himself is just a money launderer. He's kind of like early Walt except even early Walt could use science to kill people. Marty is not one to use violence to get his way so the show has to write these scenarios where he has to use his wit and mediation skills to get through them, where the solution is often far more complicated than "kill x person"

I like it so far but I can see how for someone else it might get tiring.

OOF.

This discrepancy is quite a bit larger than I would have thought. I mean if you don't like being stereotyped as closed-minded hayseeds...well...
Personally I give zero fucks about living near an art museum.

That's the worst part about big dogs... they're life expediencies are short.

The difference isn't very big but its there. Only a 9% difference between people who are consistently conservative and consistently liberal.

If it's not a big difference does it really stand to reason that it is the primary mover behind the erosion of the family unit? Certainly not in my opinion. My original assertion stands. @Jack V Savage I contend the economics of the situation definitely promote the splintering of the family as members move hither and yon in search of a way to make a living since the family can't afford to take care of them into adulthood. In places with a strong social safety net the family is more able to stay together.

So apparently I got replied banned from the garlic shooter thread for pointing out that maybe letting people race bait during a developing story, or at all really, wasn't a good thing.

Weird.

@SIRGAY HARITONOB!
I left when it turned into yet another fucking white grievance/black crime "facts and statistics" thread. The old Stormfront special.

Well.... BCS is insanely good.

What's that stand for?

I actually was tempted this week to get Prime so I can check it out. I dropped HBO and will drop CBS after the summer is over. That's the only new show that's caught my eye. Did you ever watch The Misfits or The Umbrella Academy? I feel like wonky or dark superhero series do really well because they have a sci fi element and you can build a character easier just because their power keeps people interested while you add more layers.

(Many of those offending posts still there btw)

Darn "centrism"

How could that thread have turned into another BDS (black derangement syndrome) thread? Were black people involved at all? I havent paid attention.

For sure. The other big dog we had growing up was a huge chow with a thyroid problem. I'm probably going for a mid-size next time.

That's why I generally do not like watching serials as they are airing, prefer waiting until they're done so I can know if it ends well or not. When I started watching Breaking Bad the second to last season had come out just as I caught up to it. So I only had to wait for the final season and by the the consensus was that the show was the best thing since sliced bread.

I didn't say that it was though and neither did the tweets. In fact those tweets articulated the same thing you did in this post, that its the economic system that has encouraged the splintering of the extended family.

Yea, I get that. It's just portrayed constantly in the same manner and I felt like they could've done better than using that same template for a number of episodes. One example is getting the preachers kid out of protective services. It all worked out when it shouldn't have and it was apart of the ultimatum theme. Maybe the death comes back to bite them in the ass but it sure doesn't seem like it at this point.

I first noticed it was mildly derailed by complaints about non-coverage of a shooting in the NYC area. As if the more standard inner city, retributive violence is the same as mass shootings of random crowds in the general public.

TLDR;

Story: Oh looks like it was a white guy again..

Sherfront: BUT BLACK PEOPLE
