You can't choose your family though.

IDK, call me weird but I think if say Hitler had children and the kids were a-political meaning not involved and say one was like a doctor and the other was a baker I wouldn't condone people shitting on THEM (the two offspring). Shit on their shithead dad all you want but on the kids?
No one shit on anybody's kids, Greg. Pay attention, dammit.

I tend to agree.

But Alessandra Mussolini is in the political sphere and she is continuing her father's legacy of far-right nationalism.

I know you're a reddit guy. Saw an amusing post over the weekend. It's about how Fox News has twisted history to convince their viewers that liberals are modern day Nazis, but the kicker is that it's written in the style of a conspiracy theorist shitpost.

Dude, come on. He's certainly well-researched on his niche policy expertise, but there is not a whole lot of breadth to his knowledge, which is why he has unwittingly recycled reactionary talking points about salt-of-the-earth rural white folks being the real victims of the modern era (in fact, rural people still have enormously disproportionate political power and are becoming greater beneficiaries of subsidy from urban centers) and inadvertently conflated the rural working class with white supremacists.

Yang providing statistics about the number of OTR truck drivers (who happen to be majority white) who could potentially be displaced by self-driving tech cannot reasonably be construed as "recycling reactionary talking points". And it is not Yang but his identity politics-obsessed critics who conflate the rural working class with white supremacists.

Even I couldn't be bothered to read more than a fifth the way through that. LOL @ a Fox News viewer reading that much. They're the types of people who get annoyed that J.G. Wentworth commercials are too complicated and don't get to the point quickly enough.

I'M RUNNING ON 4 HOURS SLEEP AND DEALING WITH 12 YEAR OLDS THAT THINK IT'S COOL TO RUN AROUND AS SUERNO AND NORTENO MEMBERS!!!! GIVE ME SOME GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING LEEWAY!

I'm buying the first two and binging them when I get to move into a separate room. I'm stuck watching at best PG almost PG13 right now cause I'm in a living room with a fucking 3 year old and a 9 year old....

With her I get that. I was just throwing a hypothetical out there....

And now I feel compelled to post this again:

JG Wentworth commercials suck and are too fucking catchy with that fucking slogan and must be outlawed.

How are we looking with the Trotsky progress guys?

This is basically what Kevin Kruse has been dragging Dinesh D'Souza through mud for on Twitter

But Greg, what if I have a structured settlement but I need cash now?

Well....yeah, I agree. Saying that he has recycled reactionary talking points doesn't mean that everything he has ever said is a reactionary talking point.

And it is not Yang but his identity politics-obsessed critics who conflate the rural working class with white supremacists.

What he did say about truck drivers - that their dissatisfaction (which is prospective at this point) results from the same pressures that fuel neo-Nazis - was absolutely playing into right-wing propaganda, though. Nazism is not an ideology of economic desperation or working class mobilization. It's an ideology of reduction and hate.

Also, here's a quick takedown of his UBI plan:

At the risk of starting a bitchfest cause I don't feel like using Google but what the Hell is this "UBI" thing I keep seeing reference to Yang? He's just going to send $1000 a month to people that make under a certain amount per year or something? Has he stated any sort of screen process or method he'd use to determine who does and does not qualify or is it just a soundbite he's using to hope people look past the 'how' and just focus on the 'what'?

Cause... if I qualified? The first like 6 of them are paying off CC/truck debt then I'm buying like $500 worth of ammo a month and squirreling the other $500 away for later in a "buy cool shit" fund ala Donald Cerrone.

Universal Basic Income

The thought is that if automation, robotics and AI render human labor obsolete we'll need the government to just give people money to survive (imagine the fat people in WALL-E).

Me and @Falsedawn have concluded that the only jobs in the future will be content creators on YouTube and influencers on Instagram. We're awaiting our Nobel Prize in Economics

Link to an actual Yang quote that you classify as a "reactionary talking point".

Are you really not aware that sociologists who specifically study white nationalist cells in the US recognize economics and class mobility as membership drivers within the movements??

I have never needed to be unpersuaded about UBI.

His idea is to cut the hell out of social programs and institute a Value-Added Tax, a carbon tax, eliminate the cap on Social Security Tax (people are only taxed on like the first $117k they make) and for the rest he's banking on his personal theories that giving people 1k per month will keep them from having to go to the doctor or prison as much, and that the economy will boom.

People are skeptical because there are holes in his proposal, and because his history of hype has not panned out (his pet projects have promised many tens of thousands of jobs but have delivered few).

Man, I really regret never taking even a basic econ class while I was in school. Shit hurts my brain.

First $117k a year? Motherfuckers.... Should be if you make less than like say... 60k a year you only have to pay in for the first 6 months or some shit while people 100k and above get to pay all year long.

Sounds like a ton of window dressing for a window that will never appear?

Heh, knowing that about the Social Security tax really puts it in perspective when you hear Republicans talk about wanting to eliminate (take) it, eh? That's "our" - the working class - money. And they'd love so much to get their greedy fuck fingers into it and pass it to their Wall Street friends. It's the dream goal of the party, the thing they want more than any other thing: our savings.

Like, there IS admittedly the greedy as fuck part of me that feels if someone has NO employment history them getting social security pisses me off. Like, if you want a chunk of said pie I feel like contributing to it some has to happen....

But not being taxed after your first 117k a year? WHAT MANNER OF FUCKERY IS THIS?!

Yeah when people pretend that SS is going to be insolvent the simplest retort is just remove the fucking cap

The minimum SS payout is laughably low, dude. Let's say a person works 11 qualifying years, (making $15k) which is the minimum. How much do they get per month? Like 40 bucks. If you don't contribute, you don't qualify.
