Sometimes, it's the reasons they bitch. Pattinson is clearly getting shit on for "Twilight", and that's about it. It's got nothing to do with if he's a good choice or not.

Like I said in the other thread though, it's just Batman and Bruce Wayne. This shit ain't complex. He's gotta look good in suit, act like a rich cunt, and run around in a costume, and let his stunt double kick ass. Let's not pretend the role takes a real special talent to pull off.

What really matters is the script, and everything surrounding him. Just look at BB and TDK. That shit was so good, it made people think Bale was some amazing Batman, and his line delivery as Batman wasn't absolutely cringe inducing.

I remember the first time he talked as Batman and looking around like “isn’t this bad?” but then it passed after a scene.

If you're going to continue deleting posts then do something about it. This is my official complaint. There's been a dozen different instances (and you've seen the scroll) of what could be considered 'thread derails' over several consecutive months and at least three baseless accusations of :eek::eek::eek:philia.

All of it completely unprovoked no less, I'm cordial to everyone on this forum and specifically don't want to be engaged in this kind of drama. I've never initiated a single discussion with the dude and it's not like he has the brain matter to add anything of remote value to the subjects I typically discuss on here.

A post earlier was addressed and received infractions over that conversation. There isn’t a reason to continue it using a slur that isn’t allowed, as well as graphic sexual talk. I was just trying to cut it back but that thread might be gone at this point. Not saying it’s your fault.

It's partially my fault because I'm not the type of person to report posts, ever. Ignore? Maybe, and then still get blind slandered in threads? No, thanks. You can see how I responded - or just flat out ignored - every one of those instances and just let it roll off until like the 12th time it happened. I'm not doing it anymore.

(I should have a license to use the F word tho.)

It’s like posters who claim they are black. We don’t really know so we just have a blanket rule. I think you can use that in the OT though.

Not many posters who I think have genuine malice in their posts but...

@NoDak, I would (and do) just ignore him. No one gives a shit if a POS like that talks shit about you. Makes him look worse than it makes you look.

Yeah dude, and I can take a damn joke. If anything, I'm actually a little too secure in my own skin. It was never like that though, and completely devoid of any (intended) humor.

Dafuq is this about? And since when can't we use the F word?

I did not get 100% on this:

Holy shit.

I got fucking 2 out of 8 correct lol

'Member when everyone was bitching about that worthless pretty boy Heath Ledger being cast as The Joker?

He was just fresh off an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. And Joker is a more flexible role imo.

After the fact, yes. Initially? Kind of, I guess. Nobody was expecting much from that movie, though. They were bitching about pretty much everything. Afflect got the most heat, and he was arguably the only thing worth a damn in those flicks.

And that, @Sycho Sid, is the perfect casting analogy too, in that Eisenberg just lacked certain prerequisite characteristics for the role. Also, I'm not super familiar with RP, but I don't think he's as acclaimed an actor as Eisenberg.

Also, Bale is a terrific actor and did a good job outside of that fucking Batman voice. Roger Ebert praised his performance in TDK as better than Ledger's.

I do agree about the writing though and your aversion to being pessimistic. I'm skeptical because it seems like a pick for a brooding handsome type, and I think to play Bruce Wayne you can't be outwardly brooding, but he could well knock it out of the park. But suffice it to say I don't think it's a slam dunk casting like Joaquin Phoenix for Joker.

As long as Leo DiCaprio never gets cast in anything Batman-related, I'm good. That dude is by far the most overrated actor of my lifetime. When he won his Best Actor award, it was for a movie where he wasn't even the best performance in the film (Tom Hardy was).

I wouldn't hate Ben Foster getting a shot. He's probably my favorite actor under 50 right now.

DiCaprio's performance in ""What's Eating Gilbert Grape" was outstanding, bud.
He's been in some garbage ass movies, but that one was stellar.

Yeah, that's always what I say and agree to. That's his one good performance and he was a kid. He wasn't bad in Titanic, but it wasn't a particularly impressive performance or difficult role. Meanwhile, he was outright terrible imo in The Departed, Gangs of New York, The Great Gatsby, and Wolf of Wall Street. Really, really bad.

Anybody else legit worried for Ilhan Omar's safety?
The rhetoric targeted at this woman is scary.
I never thought about that but I think its a reasonable concern, though personally I don't expect much to come of the rhetoric.

Meanwhile, he was outright terrible imo in...Wolf of Wall Street.
Praise Jesus there's another person who sees that!

He did a shitty Ray Liotta impersonation, and that was literally his character. Maybe that's Marty's fault, but it's his too. And Jonah Hill absolutely ripped off John Leguizamo for that role. Pissed me off.

I've only seen two of those, and neither was any good. Gangs of New York was particularly painful. That one was bad all around though; no amount of good acting would have saved such an abomination. As for the others, I refuse to have anything to do with The Great Gatsby, book or movie. And Wolf of Wall Street seemed like it would be dumb as fuck.

That's by far my least favorite Scorsese movie too. Exploitative bro sleaze passed off as political and cultural commentary.

I rewatched Gangs a couple years ago and was astonished at how bad it was given its relative acclaim.

What's wrong with Gatsby as a book? It's overrated in the fact that its symbolism is way too telegraphed, but it's still good. The movie sucked, but Toby McGuire was decent, the shots were pretty, and the soundtrack had some damn good tunes.

I disagree, I think superheroes can be hard to play and its because they are often multiple characters in one. You have the civilian side and the alter-ego and actors tend to be better at one or the other. Christian Bale was horrible as Batman but actually decent as Bruce Wayne and Keaton was the opposite.

I remember people making fun of Bale's Batman since at least TDK, it was just overshadowed by Ledger's performance.
