I think he's okay. I don't like it when he does impressions/voices, but I don't like it when anyone does impressions or voices. Stewart's were ultra-cringe. Colbert actually has a few funny ones, though, like Trump and Mnuchin.
I'm the opposite. I like the voices. They remind me it's ok to hear voices as long as you don't do what they tell you.

But seriously, I'm against the sherbro grain on this. I never stopped watching when Stewart left because I still find it enjoyable, though less so than when Stewart hosted. Noah did a surprisingly good impression the other night, but I can't recall it now. Sure, there's the odd time it's a little preachy rather than funny, but the show usually makes me laugh; no show is perfect.

@Trotsky

I'm not sure if something happened just before that caused them all to be cracking up, but there's a quick red carpet interview of the actors of Dany, grey worm, and Missandei where they get asked if they're happy with how the show ended

Dany visibly grimaced, Grey Worm bites his lip, and Missandei stares into the distance like she just lost her soul. Dany then has a look on her face when she was trying to talk to Sansa about the north and says "best season ever" and then they all burst out laughing.

I can't find it on YouTube. Only Facebook which shares like shit on sherdog.

Edit: I'll try

Can't lie, I was in the crowd that shit on humanities and thought everyone should be in a STEM program.

Definitely did not appreciate their importance

Haha, that's funny.

So the season is shit, as was season 7. And it doesn't surprise me that the show runners clearly got full of themselves and thought it was their brilliance, not the subject material, that made the show great. Pretty fucking moronic, but, hey, that's people. What does surprise me is the clear lack of oversight from HBO, though. I think the capitalist myth of the "firm culture," such as talked about in mergers and acquisitions, is mostly bullshit, but I always thought HBO was somewhat of an exception since their product has been just so much better than the rest.

Also, I've never understood the hate for Dany/Emilia Clarke. I like the character and I like the actress. She's legitimately one of the most beautiful women ever too.

I find some of what Peterson says to be interesting but anytime he starts going on about Marx I tune him out. I have yet to see his debate with Zizek but a friend of mine who saw the highlights(and was unaware of who Peterson is) said that Peterson's responses were a disappointment.

Zizek took it tremendously easy on him instead of crucifying him, which was a huge disappointment to me and to most on the left I'm sure.

I think there's always a sort of disconnect on this topic when it comes to people (mostly idiots) spouting off. In reality, yes, a STEM focus ensures an easier path to well-compensated employment than a humanities focus, but it doesn't foster the sort of knowledge, thinking, and reflection that makes for critical democratic participation. I see it as STEM makes for better workers and humanities make for better citizens.

How in the hell do shows continue to book Meghan McCain?

God, talk about a talentless, witless, inconsiderate piece of shit who wouldn't have a cent without a rich parent.

Nobody is forcing you to watch "The View", ya know.

I think she's a bit of a subpar actress. She either has a blank face, or is overdoing the facial expressions. She lacks subtley in between that very good actors are gifted with. Certainly not at all the worst or worth flamining over. Sansa used to be worth a of the criticism, but her as an actress stood out to me in season 8. Good acting can't save poor writing tho.

I had a friend say that GoT season 8 is like Nickelback where people are just hating on it because it's the popular thing to do. That applies other areas of media, but I feel everything they've gotten has been deserved for season 8, and is basically validating us who started crying in season 6 & 7 and now just everybody realizes.

We had a warning. It was ignored

Part of the blame is on the audience for not caring about anything but the zombie action for three seasons. Few cared about these writing flaws in season 5, because they were too busy jacking off to one episode with a big zombie battle, and the Night King looking all cool n' shit. So many times I heard people slobber over season 5, and saying dumb shit like "GOT is so good now! Those first few seasons were kind of boring, and had too much talking."

When the audience gets bigger and dumber, the show's quality usually follows suit.

Interesting. I think she's definitely pretty but not really a knockout. Kind of resembles Rachel McAdams, but I think McAdams is much better looking. And the character is interesting to me, but not quite likable.

He also wrote 25th Hour (the book it's based on and the screenplay), which was a good book and one of the best movies of the Aughts. And the "Flowers for Charlie" ep of ASiP.

I might be disappointed as well but before it happened I was hoping it wouldn't get too nasty and that they'd find common ground here and there since I like both them. Peterson has lost a bit of my respect though due to his pandering to his audience, something Zizek doesn't really do. If anything Zizek seems to enjoy provoking fellow leftists at times.

I still kind of get it, you don't really need to go to university to learn what they teach in the humanities and social sciences if you just dedicate yourself to reading the relevant material while for many STEM degrees you really do need the lab experience that a university provides. But simply reading the material taught at the university divorced from the social environment and the networking of the university means missing out on potentially vital experiences and relationships that can teach things that are hard to learn just from reading. Also it would be pretty expensive to try and learn it on your own without access to the resources of a university.

Part of the problem is that the humanities and social sciences are just more suitable for the rank and file college student who is only there to get a degree of any kind because they feel expected to or for the student athletes who need to major in something. So that hurts the image of those fields since the average IQ is basically weighted down by those types.

Never watched GoT but I was thinking about getting into it since its wrapping up and I wouldn't have to wait between seasons but if the last season is shit that is a real turn off.

Your appraisals of women's attractiveness continues to shock me.

I do agree that she looks like Rachel McAdams, though. But I think Clarke is prettier with softer and more feminine facial features than McAdams.

Yes, of course all of that is true. However, I don't think season 5 was all that bad outside of the Dorne and Winterfell storylines, which were clearly rushed in production. It still had some good scenes.

For instance, perhaps my favorite scene of the series is the ending to "The Gift" (s5/e7). Not only is it well-shot: it still keeps with the core theme of GRRM's story: that decisions by characters drive the story and that bad decisions have bad consequences.

It wasn't until season 6 that patently stupid decisions had no consequences. It's like Jon Snow's resurrection was symbolic for the fact that no one is ever responsible for what they do or who they trust anymore.

I don't know what your taste is like generally, but I recommend the show to most people. I think it's one of the best shows ever made. And while I agree with a lot of the specific criticisms that people have been making, I still look forward to every episode and still enjoy them all.

Season 1-4 is almost a different show, than what came afterwords, and is still totally worth checking out. The latter half of the series won't ruin your enjoyment of the first half. There is still plenty of enjoyment to be had watching those first four seasons, with so many good payoffs to impeccably crafted stories.

People are also getting a bit hysterical with the quality drop off. Yes, the quality drops, and it turns into more of a popcorn fantasy kind of series, but it's still completely watchable. It's nowhere near the quality dip that a show like Dexter went through, that's for damn sure. It essentially goes from GOAT perfection level, to kinda average.

Not sure what the connection is there, the US (last time I checked) isn't even in the top 10 of stem grads per capita - are they saying south korea, Germany, Sweden, France of democracy issues?

Not that masculine, IMO.

Without the source material its obvious that the show runners couldn't handle the scope of the world building grrm created, nor the political and power scheming of the characters -- but its still entertaining, just more fantastical and less thought out.
