Re: Donald Trump Jr.

Is there anyone at all that slicks their hair back that doesn't look like a scummy con artist?

I got a solid chuckle out of this one

Is Kamala Harris on this committee?

The Republican-led Senate Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed Donald Trump Jr. to answer questions about his previous testimony before Senate investigators in relation to the Russia investigation, sources with direct knowledge told Axios.

Why it matters: It's the first congressional subpoena — that we know about — of one of President Trump's children. The subpoena sets up a fight that's unprecedented in the Trump era: A Republican committee chair pit against the Republican president's eldest son.

  • It's also a sign that the Russia investigations in Congress aren't over despite the conclusion of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe and despite Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell saying it's time to move on from the Russia probe.
That it's got support from the Republicans on the committee is telling, don't you think?

Hard to tell. For a while during Trump's presidency and historically the GOP Senate seemed to be more sober than House members.

The news about the Senate intelligence committee the last 2 years was one of bipartisanship and fact finding.

While the Senate seems to have shifted with Graham going into full boot licking mode, McConnell doing whatever is necessary to get his judges nominated and guys like Flake stepping down this investigation did start under different circumstances.

But Burr said he's not running again...

I also don't think McConnell and Graham are true believers in Trump. I think McConnell likes the way the courts are shaping up and that Graham is all in for support in Syria and Afghanistan. Trump is a means to get what they want. He has higher approval ratings than them in the GOP so they'll do whatever they need to appease his ego so he implements their agenda.

Now that I rambled for a while I realize I don't have a point. I just don't see these guys as apologists on the level of Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes. They are using Trump.

But if they could dump Trump and it seemed politically expedient I could absolutely see them doing it.

Maybe they are getting as much done as possible before Trump sinks and than they can point at this investigation to say "hey we were working on this all along."

I just do not like Trevor Noah as the host of the daily show. Though a lot of that is his writers.

I think he's okay. I don't like it when he does impressions/voices, but I don't like it when anyone does impressions or voices. Stewart's were ultra-cringe. Colbert actually has a few funny ones, though, like Trump and Mnuchin.

Bernie calling that kid stupid was hilarious

Yes, I think I pointed out a while back where they had shown a willingness to contradict the will of the president in order to build a resume that will allow them to distance themselves from Trump the moment the ride is over.

By the way, no one else has really mentioned this, but fuck someone needs to punch out Steve Mnuchin's gritty teeth. How is that prick able to frustrate the will of the People like that?

He probably fears they'll ask for his tax returns as well lol

One of my very good friend's mother was raped and carried the baby to term before giving it up for adoption.
After her mother passed, they found him and now he is an important part of their family.

That being said, I'm not one of those people advocating for forcing rape victims to carry their baby to term, but I am for making the process more welcoming to rape victims to immediately report their assault so they can be treated to prevent an pregnancy from even happening. Some policy and education around this would help a great deal.

edit: just realizing this is about that thread; seems gross; haven't even gone in there
I just hope your friend’s mother did it by choice and not because she was ordered to by law.
