This list shows why I can't give a list. Haven't seen half of it. Also True Detective Season 1 was great, but I only saw a couple of episodes of Season 2 before dropping out.

Season 2 sucked something fierce. Season 3 was just as good as Season 1 but in a completely different way, in a way that really makes you (or made me) take stock and reevaluate things.

Don't get me started on the Sopranos. God, that show was bad.

I'd go:

1. American Crime
2. Breaking Bad
3. The Wire
4. Game of Thrones
5. The Americans
6. Better Call Saul
7. Band of Brothers
8. True Detective
9. Six Feet Under
10. Orange is the New Black

American Crime is seriously criminally underrated, especially for receiving such high critical appraise (97% Rotten Tomatoes iirc)

True Detective and Orange over the Sopranos? GTFO!

You saved yourself 10 hours or so of your life from a bad show. Season 3 was cool (and very well acted) but ended like a wet fart. I think the storytelling on the show sucks ass but was carried by great acting in 1 and 3. Season 2 was terrible.

And your point on rankings is true for me. I'm not a big TV guy at all just ranking the ones I have watched.

1. Simpsons
2. True Detective(Season 1 only)
3. Boardwalk Empire
4. The Wire
5. Breaking Bad

"Rome" had GOAT potential. That first season might be my favorite season of any show. The damn thing cost way too much though, and didn't have the viewers. Even the 2nd season, where they had to essentially cram four seasons of material into about 7 episodes, was surprisingly watchable.

Anthologies and mini series get their own best of lists.

Love many shows you listed and do not know the others yet. Hmm

1. Breaking Bad
2. The Wire
3. Better Call Saul
4. Manhattan
5. The Expanse.

Sitcoms, mini series and anthologies need their own lists.

I'm not crazy to say the old school Twilight Zone is top ten for sure, am I? There are so many clever, disturbing and well acted episodes with new cast for every episode (for the most part). That's pretty impressive.

I expected BCS to be somewhat of a sitcom and was so blown away by the first episode.

I actually have never seen it...

Yeah, it was good stuff. A lot of it feels dated to me now, but the acting and concepts are still terrific.

It's one of the best shows of all time, maybe even the best. It's got some consistency issues, as they're not all winners, but the very best of that series is some of the best stuff ever put to film.

You need to watch Black Mirror
