Yeah that’s pretty much it. IIRC the term Oi was actually coined by some music writer talking about the more non politician non rich kid rebellion, true, working class version of punk. Apparently many people thought he was full of shit and the whole this to be divisive. And then yes the Front (but I think you might be crossing the heritage foundation with the national front, which is pretty funny actually :)) and other groups got involved. Although to be honest from what I saw the idea that these groups created skinheads does not jive with my experience.

Phase 1 many of the dodgyier and tougher punks gravitated towards the skinhead thing because it just fits that mold better. Skins were a mix of dodgy and outright racist ie from Hard Archie bunker/Rosanne Bar (<45><45><45>) to Nazis. This is when they terrorized the punk scene.

Phase 2 the punks banded together and kicked the skins out and concurrently with that skins developed their own scene that went further and further right until you had the screw drivers and no remorses in the late say 80s early 90s.
 
There's always some kind of skinhead talk going on in here. One of you....has to be lying and was a skinhead at some time.

Apparently skinhead covers a lot of ground. I've been shaving my noggin for almost 20 years but wouldn't fit in with any of these groups. Even if I've owned a few pairs of Docs throughout the years.

Where you at in all of this? Was the whole punk scene your deal, or were you more a Duran Duran or Wham kinda guy? Or perhaps busted out some breakdancing brilliance on occasion?

I was. Not the white power variety, the working class punk variety. #2 on the top, zero sides and back, Alpha bomber, white beater, jeans or combats, 20 hole deadrights.
