That's not an accusation. The dirty laundry stuff is you covering your ass. Bullshit decision and a chickenshit follow up.
You hate to see it.
A statement is given each time a high profile poster is banned. If one isn’t given, the community feels that staff isn’t being transparent and if we do, it can seem like dirty laundry in explaining the record and reasoning behind it. It’s somewhat a lose-lose but at least the statement route gives everyone the avenue of determining whether they agree/ disagree with it and at minimum, know what to avoid on their side to stay out of trouble.
I do understand the history and therefore @ElijahWood did have a point that maybe it does not matter what ultimately did it because Fawlty was on borrowed time.
I disagree with how the situation at hand was handled (plain wrong IMO, your quote does not change that there was no rule breach here if you take the context of the post. Calling an election unfair does not make it so, and calling that exchange an impliedaccusation does not make it so, either.)
I do not disagree with the rule. But I disagree with your interpretation of it, putting it mildly. Oeshon has admitted to paying whores in a country where it is known that a high percentage of sex workers are underage. Fawlty challenged him on whether he was actively taking measures to ensure he did not accidentally contribute to this disgusting section of the industry there. Reading an impliedaccusation into this is a highly curious interpretation.
In other words
I appreciate the response to the ban. I get certain contributors are pain in the ass and that there is a point when the mods get tired of their shit. IMO that line from Fawlty is far from a direct accusation.
I get that the mods and admin have to decide what sort of content is allowed to be posted, and at some level the site is responsible for the content that is allowed to be posted here. Fawlty may have broken several rules that he deserves to be banned for. I think the staff was wrong to use this instance to swing the hammer.
For Oeshon, they divulged certain information on a public forum about their sexual exploitation of women in Thailand. That information was given freely. Thialand has a well known problem with child sex trade. There is no age checking or safety net to insure that the women being exploited are of age. The people that are taking advantage of the prostitution, even of legal age individuals, are contributing to the underage sex trafficking that is happening there. It is a fucked up thing and should certainly be called out.
I get that you guys try to give more leeway to people that have contributed more, and dont always enforce the rules the same. This creates a lot of problems for the staff of this site and a lot of grey area in the rules.
I don’t think you are going to get to the same place here though I see where you’re coming from. That question amounts to asking a poster if they possibly slept with underaged women. We had a similar problem with this a year or so back (which really speaks to how long we’ve tried to get this subforum to stop fixating on this habit) where a poster was asking people if they could be entirely sure they haven’t watched underage porn since they didn’t verify all ages of the videos they watched. It just gets into the very thing we are begging you guys to stay away from here. There are plenty of ways to criticize Oeshon or others without going that specific direction or any of the other mentioned severe accusations. Additionally, if a poster says something you think is questionable to that subject, you can always report it for the staff to review. The difference of opinion here is understandable but if I can stress again, please take note of how these situations are being handled recently and try to adjust with that knowledge.
