Honestly, I would have voted for Jo if I didn't hate Trump so much. So if anything Jo lost some votes because we went straight to Biden. Which is kind of what they're saying here.. Jo got about a third of the votes Johnson did in 2016 and have a feeling it was because a lot of those voters did the same.

Now we got some blaming Libertarians for Trump losing

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/reboot/real-reason-donald-trump-lost-election-libertarians-172489

As Biden moved ahead in the battleground states, conservatives on Facebook and Twitter–including former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker–were complaining that libertarians cost Trump the election because Libertarian nominee Jo Jorgensen was getting more votes than the margin between Trump and Biden in closely divided states.

Seems obvious to me that principled libertarians would prefer Biden to Trump so this is daft. Not comparable to the greens/Democrats thing.

I don't know wtf progressives have to do to get the ropes on congressional leadership. Progressive House Dems (who, yes, do tend to come from more safely blue districts) cleaned up in 2020 while moderate Dems were slaughtered.

The idea that no message is a better campaign strategy than a potentially alienating message is so silly to me.

Not sure I'd interpret the fact that Democrats in safe districts did better than Democrats in at-risk districts the way you apparently are.

I was reading today that some military advisors were saying Trump painted Biden into a corner with his military withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Boo fucking hoo... It's one of the few things I actually liked that Trump did. We should keep that momentum going with Biden. End this hawkish bullshit.

Agree 100%

Brown on the Senate side is the easiest trigger pull there could be.

On the House side maybe Katie Porter could speak to both Centrists and progressives but she's kind of green politically like the Squad.

I'm sure Brown would be fine as Senate whatever leader. I like him more than I like Schumer FWIW.

I think the objection that whiny leftists have to Pelosi is misguided and based on general cluelessness about politics.

Obviously, that's why I included that aside, although there isn't a complete correlation between being progressive and being in safe districts. See Senators in safely blue New York and California versus Senators in very-much-purple Ohio and Wisconsin.

Even if you don't want Pelosi out right now, she is 80 and promised not to run in 2022 so shouldn't we be looking for the next Speaker? Is there anybody that checks the boxes for you?

Oh she's checking some boxes alright.

lol

AOC is the future, absolutely, but she's not ready yet. I don't think any of the squad members have the requisite discipline at the moment.

Oh agreed, I just think she's insanely hot, so I gotta prop her up needlessly.

She has aspirations for higher office, but I want her to go Senate with an eye on majority/minority leader. The whips can get people in line, but I want her guiding policy at the top level. Plus I think her passion is better suited for the Senate where a single senator can be significantly more pivotal than in the house.

You're making a whole lot of sense here.

I think AOC wants that executive branch, not sure she has any interest in herding cats

I really hope not. A presidency is basically a GTFO of politics card. Sure you have the bully pulpit for the rest of your life, but your concrete policy considerations might as well be dust once you term out or lose. AOC needs to be put in a place of party leadership without getting to the big house. She has the potential to spark a generation of progressive politicians, even more than she already has, but she has to be there.

I'm indifferent to whether she stays or goes (I think she's been great, but she's old, and as long as the replacement is good, that's fine), and I don't know everything that goes into doing the job well or enough about the personal characteristics of other reps. Seems that she's gotten a lot done, though, and that her shrillest critics really don't know what they're talking about. I think there's a fairly widespread (minority, though) perception that the country really loves far-left ideas, and that winning huge majorities would be easy if Democrats just moved hard left but they don't want to do it because they'd rather lose than move left, and I think that is totally daft.

I can't watch this video without feeling great empathy for the guy. He just wants to get away and not hit a girl and momma keeps ragdolling him lol. I wish there were longer video.

I love that show so much. The humor was on point and the music slaps.

I haven't watched in many years. I'm not sure how well it will hold up for me given how much kind of hinges on their naivety and innocence and how hard it is not to be extremely cynical in 2020 America. That scene and the "a taste of your own dick medicine" are my two favorite quotes.
