Also, what does honesty mean to you? It's quite possible I am also facing a language issue here given English is not my first language. Do you define it as not lying, or as arguing in good faith?

Not saying stuff that you know is not true. It can be about factual matters--like saying "I didn't post under (name)" when that is factually untrue--or about arguments--"so you're saying (something you're not saying)."

Guy I know somehow got Hugo Chavez and Cesar Chavez mixed up

My band at the time was playing a club with about 250 or so and my lead singer wanted to dedicate a song to Andres Escobar, the Columbian soccer player who was shot to death after giving up an own goal in the World Cup (song was called Damage Done). He got the name wrong and ended up giving a shout-out to Pablo Escobar the Columbian drug kingping. Huge cheer and I was laughing so hard I could barely get through the song.
