Obsidian focused on their own IPs because they didn't have Fallout. The entire marketing campaign for Outer Worlds was "Hey, remember when we made Fallout New Vegas"? They literally can't get away from it.

Ah that's right, never played Outer Worlds but I remember seeing it and thinking "Oh, looks like FNV"

Also fun fact, InXile Entertainment (Wasteland) is also owned by Microsoft. Bethesda could make a Fallout mainline game, Obsidian could make a Fallout spin-off game, and InXile could make a Fallout CRPG all at the same time.

Fallout will always be a turned based isometric RPG to me not some bastardized first person shooter made by a company that specializes in fast-travel inventory management games
