Even in some of the better Shounen series you see it.

Look at how the character designs for One Piece changed after Oda had the time skip in it.
 
The only current anime I still watch is Attack on Titan.

If Gore was president on 9/11, at the very least I think it's safe to assume we would not have invaded Iraq, so you might have to guess what the trade-off would be to have Saddam Hussein potentially in power for 20 more years compared to the rise of ISIS (gross oversimplification, I know). You might also wonder if the GFC in 2008 or climate change would have had different trajectories. I can also see a scenario where 9/11 becoming the galvanizing point of GOP obstructionism rather than Obama's election, leading into something near our current state.
I can't imagine a GWB presidency without 9/11. He was basically vacationing from inauguration up to that point. It probably would have been a bland neocon term, and his reelection would have been more competitive. Maybe the Dixie Chicks would have had a better career.

Iraq definitely wouldn't have happened and Afghanistan would have been far less destructive.

We'd definitely be in way better shape when it comes to the environment since Gore was all over that way before it became fashionable among politicians. 2008 would have definitely gone to the GOP though. Hard to picture 20 years of one party ruling.

But yeah, I also can't imagine Dubya without 9/11. That helped bring out the crazy evangelicalism in him (I don't remember him touting his religion at all in the 2000 election), Darth Vader Cheney, Rumsfeld, the whole crew.

Yeah, they tend to be dishonest about these things.

The opioid crisis for instance is disproportionately effecting whites(despite also having impacts in other communities). Would they be cool with racializing that issue and making it all about the white victims? LOL, of course not.
 
Walking through downtown to get my wings after my doordash driver ghosted me was a rich cultural experience.
