Movie was legit one of my favorites as a child.

That, Land Before Time, Doraemon, Totoro, and Kiki's Delivery Service were the main staples of my childhood.

They played land before time for us in grade 1, and the entire class ended up bawling their eyes out. It was a complete disaster.

I'm married and own my own business, despite decades of struggle with mental illness; you're single and unemployed despite 93rd percentile intelligence and a privileged upbringing (e.g. tell us again about the house your parents bought for you). You're projecting. Try (and fail) again, please. Be my guest. But surely you can be more of a challenge than this, can't you?

@Trotsky how is what Vince McMahon and WWE do to contracts legal? They don't allow them to be employees (they are "independent contractors", no health insurance or benefits, etc), but then restrict them from quitting or working anywhere else or what they can and can't do.

The latest example in the long list of examples. Renee Young left WWE, contract EXPIRED after serving her time/obligations, but there's a non-compete clause that doesn't allow her to work for another wrestling company for a full year after the contract is over that kicked in now.

How is that even possible?
They make a contract, people sign it. The pro wrestling business, and more importantly, pro wrestlers themselves, are a very unique bunch. These are guys who usually get 500 a week to kill themselves infront of high schoolers, so when they get a "big" contract from the most popular and televised pro wrestling company on Earth, they take it regardless.

It boils down to the lack of competition and the fact that most pro wrestlers grew up on 70s/80s guys who worked for coke and steroids. If you're in the WWE, making acouple hundred thousand and doing what you love, there isn't much else to complain about IMO.*

(*It's all relative. Those who draw fans make more money.)

Expecting Trotsky to explain anything lawyer OR pro wrestling related.

Missouri cop shoots and kill unarmed woman during a traffic stop on her way to work. No body cam or dashcam. The officer says the woman explicitly told him she had a gun and gestured toward it, at which point he fired several rounds into the car. And the *prosecutor* declined pressing charges on the basis of that narrative.

The fucking prosecutor decided that a video from a nearby restaurant which showed the woman "moving in her car" while talking with the officer was definitive enough to confirm his story and not put the officer in front of a judge.

While the shooting was possibly avoidable, "it cannot be said" the deputy did not have a reasonable belief he was in danger when Hannah Fizer told him she had a gun and was going to shoot him, according to the prosecutor, Stephen Sokoloff.

That reeks of bullshit

Ive known a lotta shady people over the years and not a one of them announced hey im gonna get cha before pulling any shit that im aware of. Who fuckin talks like that.

Well, as you probably guessed, United States labor and employment laws, particularly over the past 40 years, are pretty smelly.

This is why voting Trump out is so important. Had Clinton won and the Court swung in the liberals' favor, both the IC designation and the NCA would definitely, without a doubt, be held illegal. Because both run afoul of any reasonable reading of the case law on either issue. For the IC designation....for fuck sake, there's just no good argument. The WWE directly controls the wrestler and the work is within the express purpose of the employer's business. For the NCA issue, the WWE has no legitimate proprietary business interest (such as trade secrets or business contacts) except in the wrestler's actual person (their name and physical appearance) which is typically given the most robust protection since....your legal name and body are the most basic things a person has. The WWE can, of course, restrict them from using the persona they used in the promotion or reference their backstory in it.

However, "reasonable reading of the law" isn't quite so important when you're talking about Republican nominees to the judiciary. They are corrupt, openly compromised hacks. Curiously, I think it's more likely they strike the NCA than the IC designation, even though the latter is (IMO) much more absurdly illegal. Just a hunch.

I thought about tagging a certain poster who is very good at defining words in that last post, but i thought the better of it.

He probably would have said it as a ride a Thorpe Park.

Kiki's Delivery Service is really good except for the few scenes which confirm Miyazaki is a foot fetishist.

His wife has always been afflicted with osteoporosis and has a hunchback. She's 5 feet tall and very nice in public but fairly sure she whips him with a belt.
He used to drink and was a somewhat normal guy but she made him stop drinking.
I think he should just kill himself.
I burst out laughing at this post because of the end. Fuxking LOL

When I was in fifth grade, our teacher had an epileptic seizure in class. He had mentioned his condition before so when it was starting (he was in the middle of scolding the class and then started struggling to speak), I figured what was happening and sprinted out the door and to the nurse's office. Didn't actually witness the seizure, but when I got back to class with the nurse (maybe five minutes later?), everyone--boys and girls alike--was bawling, and the teacher was on the ground with another teacher by his side. Really weird shit. I never even asked anyone for a play-by-play on what I missed.

Also @Gregolian Miyazaki unironically had a waifu

The guy is clearly into lolis and foot stuff and openly puts it in his film and yet is upheld as an auteur of the highest degree, what a fucking legend. I wish I could make a career by making my fetishes into critically acclaimed kids movies.

Yeah, but have you seen The Land Before Time?

Good God, the stuff you say is hilarious. You say people voted for Obama because they wanted change so bad, yet you disregard the fact that Trump got elected for the same reason, people wanted change. A decent amount of people that voted for Obama voted for Trump in 2016. Ugh, I won't put you on ignore because I'm not a pussy, but you're pushing it.

First off, Obama won in something close to a landslide. Meanwhile, Trump lost by over 3 million votes.

Second, that both won because people wanted change isn't impossible. People wanted change from Bush's idiocy and war hawking, while in 2016, some wanted a change from "career politicians." These two can perfectly co-exist.

Thirdly, it'll devastate me that one of the very top racists on Sherfront puts me on ignore so please think long and hard about your decisions.

That’s fucking lol

9/11 really did change everything

It unleashed Dubya as being one of the worst presidents in history. Which in turn, got us Obama because people wanted "change" so badly. This shook racists so much they chose a conman that told them what they wanted to hear in 2016.

9/11 doesn't happen and Dubya becomes yet another shitty neocon. Probably doesn't even win in 2004 and who knows what happens from there on out. Obama likely never becomes prez.
It's interesting to think about.
If Gore was president on 9/11, at the very least I think it's safe to assume we would not have invaded Iraq, so you might have to guess what the trade-off would be to have Saddam Hussein potentially in power for 20 more years compared to the rise of ISIS (gross oversimplification, I know). You might also wonder if the GFC in 2008 or climate change would have had different trajectories. I can also see a scenario where 9/11 becoming the galvanizing point of GOP obstructionism rather than Obama's election, leading into something near our current state.
I can't imagine a GWB presidency without 9/11. He was basically vacationing from inauguration up to that point. It probably would have been a bland neocon term, and his reelection would have been more competitive. Maybe the Dixie Chicks would have had a better career.
