War Room Lounge v154: People don't realize how many people had to die just for the eight hour day

So, this douchenozzle I happen to know called in a pipe bomb scare today very near here. When talking to the cops or the CBC, he was all about minimizing the seriousness of the situation, saying he didn't really think it was dangerous and it was out of abundance of caution that he called the police. But when talking to any civilian that would listen, he just kept repeating how the bomb squad was there because of a suspected pipe bomb, adding nothing further. E.g. when talking to a passing motorist asking what happened, he says, "It's a bomb scare, looks like a pipe bomb,"* to the guy and the guy drives on.

Am I the only person that thinks that was deliberately douchey?

That should at least cheer up the right when she's their VP. Biden and Harris are both hated by the left. I'm still voting for them but... God damn it.

The left or "the left". Because Biden is incredibly popular with democrats, who are majority left identifiers.

You're incorrectly imputing your own political logic (or any logic, really) to the right. There are a lot of more left-wing VP candidates who would have received far less vitriol than Kamala Harris will due to reasons unrelated to policy. She's a charismatic black woman with a history of calling out racism and sexism and also a history of apparently using her romantic life to climb politically. Right wingers could give a shit less if a political figure passes left-wing purity tests. It's not about policy to them.

I don't think it has any effect on left wing goals for the next four years. The 8-12 years after that? That's where the problem lies imo. Harris will be the heir apparent and de facto leader of the Democratic Party, and she's repeatedly shown a lack of conviction in left wing positions, an utter disinterest in internationalism, and a deep commitment to expediency.
 
Apropos of nothing, the Perseids peak overnight tonight. Anybody else planning to watch?

I guess I just don't see the punchline in transitioning from "Real talk. I read a story today about what cops go through and why the thin blue line is so important" into the lyrics of a song from the 90s. Not the end of the world, I just thought you had actually read a thought provoking story and was interested to see what it was about.

Some asshole stepped out in front of me in a 35 mph zone and I had to swerve to avoid him and might have snapped something on my front wheel when I hit the curb and blew my tire.

So, all around, today fucking sucks.
