Per capita It's insane. I'm picking up a nice sapphire kimber for conceal carry.

They just shot and torched two people that were going to testify against a gang.

The two dudes who did the mass shooting are likely never going to be caught, and down here justice will be one of the family members clapping them.
Wow.

Well, I hope you stay safe in there.

I carry a fake wallet in case Im held up, but honestly outside of a stray bullet it isn't that bad. Situational awareness and the like and I don't fuck around in the worst areas.

If you want to see an example of what I was talking about earlier read this.

Charity Hospital. Charity Hospital was once considered the safety net of New Orleans. It was a place where anyone could go and receive the best healthcare available. Established in 1736, by a French shipbuilder, whose dying wish was to fund a hospital for the poor.
Of course they aren't reopening it, I imagine other hospitals lobbied hard against it.

“...The money that has flowed from the state and federal governments to compensate for the storm’s damage to the hospital is set to be spent on a highly controversial new $1.2 billion complex on an entirely different site, separated from the downtown core by an interstate highway.”

Interesting strategy. Stuff I don't think about but that would come in handy just in case.

I'll try to check the article out later.

Just put five dollars in it, some business cards and you're good to go. Buying a new phone soon and going to use my old one the same way. Learned about it from a Venezuelan.

It's definitely worth a read, one of, it not the saddest stories from Katrina. It's pretty obvious they didn't give a fuck about dying poor people.

Another really good article.
https://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/30/magazine/30doctors.html

It discusses the doctor who essentially euthanized some people as well.

I can't imagine how terrible it would have been. No electricity, stranded with the dying and ill, low on food and water and essentially forgotten. I can't imagine how awful it must have been, the stench must have been absolutely horrible. Over 100 degrees in there.

I'm kind of pissed that they're talking about turning into a place with upscale shopping and upscale apartments (I mean... if they're not too bad I would absolutely move there despite the fact it's probably haunted as a motherfucker.)

Also come to think of it I'm shocked they haven't made a Fallout: New Orleans. That game would be badass. I mean Katrina was essentially an apocalyptic event.

AFAIK the production teams were from the DC and Boston areas so that explains those ones. I’m sure NOLA will get one eventually though, it’s one of the most unique cities in the US.

Edit: I’ve lived in Boston and DC as well as NOLA too, so that might be a good indicator too!

It's about entertainment.
Ah, gotcha. That's right, you have a daughter too I think, yes? I'm pretty sure I screwed up letting mine watch youtube because now she's addicted to baby shark and all those pink fong videos. Driving me slowly insane. I was trying to turn her on to some better music, hehe.

Lmao I guess that predictably backfired. My son is only four months so I’m taking notes here...

I do, and that's how she came to my attention. I think it's kind of mildly inappropriate but I let her watch a little, and I've become a kind of fan through that.

Take notes and choose wisely, buddeh. The music you may be subjected to is disturbing...

Mutated crawfish, alligator deathclaws, ghouls having a mardi gras parade, the music would be amazing too. Steamboats. Shootouts on Frenchman.

Also LOL at Drake shooting his video and doing a Bounce (a NOLA type of music) video here (the girl is a prominent Bounce artist)

.
Also the amount of twerking in this video is pretty accurate, it gets wild up in these streets.

I hear the Unite the Right part deux rally was a big success. Almost enough people to fill a clown car.

Weird that there are no threads about it (even before the turnout was known).

Most of the right-wing still insists that the alt-right and white supremacists don't represent them, despite agreeing about 99% of things.

I was driving through central Missouri last week omw to a labor organizing event and I stopped on this political talk show type deal, where they were insisting that Alex Jones was definitively not right wing: that he was every bit as right-wing as the alt-right, which was also not a part of the conservative right.

They neglected to touch on the fact that the current US President, who has about a 92% approval rating with Republicans, is a proud patron of Alex Jones. They also failed to touch upon the fact that the guy who purported coined the term "alt-right" and gave a platform to the movement was the chief advisor to Trump for the first year of his presidency.

The mental gymnastics is insane.

Conservatives aren't too big into protesting and demonstrating. It's just not popular with us as it is with the left.

To be fair it was Richard Spencer who coined the term. Bannon just ran with it once he realized it had legs.

But yeah, traditional mom and dad Heritage Foundation conservatives (Ben Shapiro for instance) definitely have a weird relationship with the alt-right. Their condemnation is half-assed and they constantly find themselves arguing the same points. They will scream at the top of their lungs about far leftists promoting something on gender identity or whatever, meanwhile there are people seriously arguing for the creation of a white ethnostate or "peaceful ethnic cleansing" and their reaction towards it is "well yeah that's kind of bad... but what about them antifa thugs!"
