I also think it gives people false bravado because they are behind the computer screen. I've been tall and athletic legit my entire life, and rarely have had people speaking to me out of tone. Even when I've been in the wrong I can only think of like one instance I was disrespected upfront. Not saying everyone is scared of me or whatever, but people are cautious when you appear physically capable or more physically capable than them. Online however, everyone is a tough guy that can curse at you and try to insult you. Call you all types of whatevers. It's night and day.

I hear you on that note.

"When you are a have and when you are a have not, you see the world in very different ways. And a lot of the time, people say to the have nots this is not the way to handle this. When Collin Kaepernick kneels, they say this is not the right way to protest. When Martin Luther King had children as part of your protest, as part of his protest Birmingham, Alabama, people said this is not the right way to do this. When he marched in Selma, people said this is not the right way to do this.... When people marched through the streets in South Africa in apartheid, people said this is not the right way to do this. When people burn things, they say this not the rigt..... It's never the right because it's never.. because there is never a right way to protest. There is no right way to protest because that's what protest is. It's not right because it's a protest against the thing that's stopping you."
I kind of agree with this. Not that I support looting but tbh smashing and burning a few cop cars isn't going to bother me. Is it ideal? No but anytime there's an anti-racist protest people will nitpick it. Block traffic? Oh but what about first responders! Kneel during the anthem? I don't want politics in sports! Why disrespect veterans?!

Its like some people expect protests to happen in the middle of the woods so that they don't bother anyone. Protests have to be disruptive, otherwise they're easily ignored.

My problem is that when you compare these riots to the protest movement of the Civil Rights era the major difference is in organization and discipline. If this was an organized campaign of destruction of law enforcement property I could get behind it. But its just too chaotic, really looks like a minority are there to protest and a bunch of hooligans come along to break and loot shit.

it's starting to come together, why 7th grade accomplishments matter

Full credit to him, amerikuracana was told that was a relevant test by the law school he attended and stopped bragging about it after learning it is normally given to high schoolers to see if they need remedial education in reading comprehension, not to law students.

I forget, but a few years ago there was some popular "intellitest" people would take online & douches would actually include it in their email sigs if they got high scores.

talk about cringe, not to mention unprofessional
I think I did that in high school briefly.

Now here's an interesting court case I had no idea existed.

Damn, that it is weird.

You'd think they'd put those high test scorers on track to become detectives or investigators or something. I think most departments require a few years' worth of cop experience before applying for those positions.

Tbh I think it's the other way around. There are a lot of protestors, but also a substantial minority of looters/rioters who are using the protests as cover.

If it was a majority of rioters you'd see them in every city, but I'm covid-living in a smaller city with only protests, and reside in a medium city that had ~1000 protestors during the day. The crowds of rioters at night were much smaller.

Definitely an excuse to loot thing going on, though. The electronic store near campus got hit even though it was a mile away from the actual protests.

it’s not so much whether they are or not but why they feel the need to try to let people know. Maybe it’s for the reason that they aren’t just being seen directly in person where it’s easier to tell. I just know if someone did that IRL, people would look at them funny. The closest I’ve heard it to real life is just someone stating their grades (I have a straight A student, I got ___ on my SAT/ ACT, I had _ GPA in college) but that’s a little detached from I’m objectively a genius and took a test about it.
I’ve had someone that tried to convince me his IQ was 140 or around that. I’ve never ignored someone trying to flex so hard in my entire life.

This is true , you don't even need to look athletic, just strong , I'm 6' and when in decent shape 220 ( I'm a fair bit north of that now ) people tend to leave you alone , I quite like it .

Maybe that was unfair. I think there are, in general, three kinds of people at the protest. Dedicated protestors, dedicated rioters and looters, and a mass in between that will follow the crowd.

The dedicated protestors are genuine and want to protest effectively, the mass ostensibly wants to do so but can get carried away, and the minority of rioters are there to cause chaos that then influences the mass who follow along once order has broken down. The dedicated protestors, once the shit hits the fans, are the types securing milk and trying to help people during the shitstorm.

Momma "bear" didn't take kindly to someone else disciplining their baby.

I fucking wish had censorship laws on cable TV closer to Australia. In Australia if you watch like Hell's Kitchen you get to hear literally every expletive Ramsay drops.

That way people could call these looters what they are:
Shitbird douchebag fuckfaces

Truth. Or the difference when people interact with you in more loose social settings like bars. You get a lot of "I'm sorry" for an accident lol.

Not sure why but I constantly see people try to talk about what percentile they are in for intelligence on the internet (not just sherdog) but never see this even once in real life. Is this a meme about internet culture cause it really should be for how frequently it comes up.
@Lubaolong btfo!

No no Greg, say it with me.

Seriously though what the fuck is wrong with 2020? It’s been rough on a personal level too, anyone else?

o_O Perhaps you'd care to be a bit more succinct and vague.

In machine learning you have 3 main methods: supervised, in which you get training data (which they call features) and associated labels, and the main problem is to classify the labels using the set of features. Then there's unsupervised learning where you just get data, and you try to learn the structure of it without any feedback from a set of labels. And then there is reinforcement learning, where you only get some positive or negative feedback sporadically. The model is that you have an agent, a state, and a set of actions that the agent can take. With each state, action pair, there is a reward associated to it (that reward could be 0). The objective of the agent is to collect as much reward as possible. Older rewards get discounted, which opens up the possibility that, after a bit of searching, the agent would select a policy that is immediately negative, but ends up with a higher total reward after it's all said and done. What is then tricky is typically how to search the state action pairs, which is done with a variety of stochastic approaches (random sampling, stochastic gradient, simulated annealing etc.).
