Every time I go to bat for a right-winger here, even in the smallest way, they immediately make me look foolish by rattling off insanely stupid posts/threads.

ODB in the insurance thread is the latest incarnation of this phenomenon.
You know things are rough when it's the communist who is misanthropy's last holdout.

Peterson is the most incredible in that regard: that he gets so deeply into arguments that are not deep whatsoever.

Like, the guy is by most metrics probably smarter than 95% of the population. But he's also, in a very real way, kind of an idiot.

Dude, spot on.

Some facts regarding Anderson Cooper Vanderbilt of CNN

-His mother is Gloria Vanderbilt making him heir to the fortune one of the wealthiest families in american history

-From Wiki

During college, Cooper spent two summers as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency while studying Political Science. He pursued journalism with no formal journalistic education[11][12]and is a self-proclaimed "news junkie since [he] was in utero."

Wow. Looks like we have two angels burning a child alive in sacrifice to their god while two people with spoons stand on the side.

<NoneOfMy>

You're insane.

Just released such a nasty silent fart that the woman sitting across the aisle from me checked to see if her baby had taken a dump

I like to try to see the good in people. So there are some posters that I try to keep in mind are a cut above the worst, whether as a matter of intelligence (Greoric), argumentative honesty (ODB), cordiality (HockeyBJJ), authenticity (Amerikurana), etc.

But if I ever assert that opinion, I can be sure that the poster I'm crediting will say something like "actually, a flat tax is more moral" before my lips close.

Okay, if that's genuine, I'll admit I'm intrigued.

Looks like your typical central American representation of Our Lady of Solitude over the body of Christ.

<WellThere>

Man, probably the single issue that gets me most livid on this board is the intersection of mental health and criminal justice. The moron brigade here, without fail, derps their way into convincing themselves they know more about mental health than mental health professionals, more about justice than judges, and more about individual defendants/patients that the persons actually handling their cases. All because they mouth read their way through an article about the person's crime and it makes them righteously angry.

Diagnosis like "Affluenza" make people cynical about the role of the mental health professional in the justice system.

My biggest thing on mental health is that we don't do enough to properly treat those that are suffering. I know you are talking about those that think we should just lock everyone up that is mentally ill. I feel we lack serious funding for mental health and would rather fill our prison system than take the proper steps to treat people.

In the case of the 2nd amendment, we need serious discussion and changed to the laws to properly identify those that have mentak help problems that could be at risk. We need to be able to remove firearms from the mentally ill. I say this as someone that owns multiple firearms.

Dude, it's every subject that people regularly opine on. Lots of posters are convinced that politicians would win if only they'd adopt the posters' policy or messaging preferences. And look at people's comments on economics. It's very pre-modern. We changed the way we sing and then there was a drought. Gotta execute the singers and change it back.

Maybe you're unaware. Here's the Wiki on it:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxil_hoax

Lines up very well with your nuttery, though you shift it away from religion and toward politics.

Great quote from Taxil in there:

I think that quote from Taxil explains a lot of the right-wing media. Not the part about starting as a joke, but this bit:

"Then it dawned upon me that there was lots of money in being a Munchausen of the right kind, and for twelve years I gave it to them hot and strong, but never too hot. When inditing such slush as the story of the devil snake who wrote prophecies on Diana's back with the end of his tail, I sometimes said to myself: 'Hold on, you are going too far,' but I didn't. My readers even took kindly to the yarn of the devil who, in order to marry a Mason, transformed himself into a crocodile, and, despite the masquerade, played the piano wonderfully well.

One day when lecturing at Lille, I told my audience that I had just had an apparition of Nautilus, the most daring affront on human credulity I had so far risked. But my hearers never turned a hair. 'Hear ye, the doctor has seen Nautulius,' they said with admiring glances. Of course no one had a clear idea of who Nautilus was, I didn't myself, but they assumed that he was a devil.

Ah, the jolly evenings I spent with my fellow authors hatching out new plots, new, unheard of perversions of truth and logic, each trying to outdo the other in organized mystification. I thought I would kill myself laughing at some of the things proposed, but everything went; there is no limit to human stupidity."

Ingraham, Carlson, Limbaugh, and others I think genuinely like tax cuts for rich people and have some racial issues, but also know that they're bullshitting about a lot.

This is the kind of hard hitting commentary that brings me back to the lounge.

My favorite recent exchange:

He didn’t say Clinton did. But someone else did use a surname

Everyone in the Obama administration used surnames. Hillary is known to have used two in her life. Impeach them all! Madonna for president!

U up for an account bet on this?

U really post a lot of BS

An account bet that the Obama administration was entirely staffed by people who used surnames?

U up for it. Because I know 2 for sure off the top of my head that did not

Or we can do it over your Bullshit accusation that I made a big deal out of Clinton’s emails in other threads

We’ve been through this before jack. Will u ever ever man up

Who in Obama's administration didn't use surnames? Did I miss Cher being Secretary of the Treasury or something?

I don't know why I keep doing this to myself.

So I sat through another terrible, "found footage" film.

Just god awful.

Hell House LLC.

the premise is just fucking stupid, predictable...

I can't remember the last good found footage film I have seen.

Lake Mungo?

the Last exorcism?
