For old TVs with a physical channel change dial from the time when there was just a cable that came into your house and went directly into the TV, no modem or any such shit included. If your TV was old you had to have an adaptor to connect the coax cable to your antenna headers.

@LangfordBarrow you laugh but we used to have poker nights at home with him, my older brothers and various friends of ours, and he used the opportunity to ensure we knew about the etiquette and so on, and then like a proper Black Irishman, left it to us how well we used this info.

I'm a rule follower by nature so it served me very well, whether I was walking away with the money of others or vice versa. I also learned that when you play casino games, you need to focus on beating the house, not so much the other players, especially in blackjack.

I have no idea how well-trained young people are these days but judging by the success of online gambling, I guess that issue is moot now anyway.

My father was a crusty fat fuck and mean as an Irish drunk can be at times, but he was devoted to my mother and taught me many valuable practical lessons I might otherwise never have--on account of my mental illness getting in the way of normal human intuition--for example, when I was just a kid he once said to me, you'll break your arm patting yourself on the back that way. It helped me think about how I came across sometimes because I had poor socialization skills--think Sheldon on BBT except without the cool stuff like an eidetic memory and a proper diagnosis.
