The main ingredients were local and everything was perfectly cooked. I jumped the gun and took the picture before the shrimp rice pilaf arrived to tie it all together but I assure you it was amazing. I was too busy stuffing my face to take any pictures of her panko-crusted and pan-fried fresh fish with Caesar salad miso soup tonight.

Say, with all this talk about inflation how much do TV dinners cost these days?

The candied carrots were awesome too and the cook on the pork was absolutely perfect, really tender and juicy. She knows her shit when it comes to cooking, that's for sure--the whole meal was very well balanced.

Definitely on point. Love the sauteed mushrooms as well. My boys get pork chops on the reg. Wish they could appreciate the stuff I'm seeing in the pic. Sigh... I try to slip some new stuff past them every now and then but end up eating it all myself haha.

When I was a kid and I hit a growth spurt my father once berated me for eating everyone else's leftovers

I feel for ya with fussy kids. I have seen it before but I can't imagine not enjoying all kinds of food. I can understand it--everyone's different--but I can't imagine what it's like to have a boring diet. One of my wife's friends is married to a guy who pretty nearly only eats meat and potatoes. In his case though, I think it's because working in the trades and smoking his whole life he's killed his senses of smell and taste. So he seems to eat solely to stay alive. I'm sure he enjoys life in other ways but if I could no longer enjoy the taste of food my quality of life would be greatly diminished*.

I feel for ya with fussy kids. I have seen it before but I can't imagine not enjoying all kinds of food. I can understand it--everyone's different--but I can't imagine what it's like to have a boring diet. One of my wife's friends is married to a guy who pretty nearly only eats meat and potatoes. In his case though, I think it's because working in the trades and smoking his whole live he's killed his senses of smell and taste. So he seems to eat solely to stay alive. I'm sure he enjoys life in other ways but if I could no longer enjoy the taste of food my quality of life would be greatly diminished*.

I get it though. I remember hating cooked onions which was in our rice and gravy made on the reg. I dont know why I hated them haha. They were so small and you dont taste anything as they are cooked with the gravy. One night I was gagging trying to eat them and my dad took a couch pillow and hurled it across the room hitting me in the face. I'm reserving that approach for now haha. They dont cause trouble and are really good playing together. I will take a picky kid over a bratty kid any day. My middle one Wes is my only one that will try anything.
