You can't suspend someone for life and stop their ability to make a living elsewhere. Contracts < Constitutional rights.

Question, what is his motivation to pay that fine? Is it legally binding and he can get the actual law after him if he doesn't? Not like he has to worry about being banned if he doesn't pay up
 
What happens if he doesn't pay the fine? Considering he was an unlicensed fighter, I figure they couldn't do anything but refuse to give him a license until the fine is paid. Can they mail him a bill to his house/have a collections service contact him if he doesn't pay it?

It's covered somewhere fairly early on in this thread. It seems to be legally binding.

Have you seen many that netted results?

I know of 3 instances where someone has signed a non compete, gone to work for direct competition been taken to court and nothing came of it. Sure these are all guys paid substancially more than Wandy thus better lawyers but still I just don't see any runs on the board.


I don't know of one succesful case.

This is just my personal observation on people I now and have met, One lawyer, one banker, one CEO. As you would imagine all much more knowledgable on contract law of course.

I've heard my entire life the exact opposite, it's better to fail than to refuse to take the test.

Refusing to take is both an automatic fail and shows lack of respect (like you're not even man enough to stand up and face the music)
 
I know he fucked himself by running from test, but the era of TRT was filled with double standards and forgiveness for multi-test-failing athletes. Out of all the offenders, for Wand to the one with the lifetime ban=Bullshit.

Overreem fled when he heard they were coming and denied it. Wand ran out the back door when they came to the front door and admitted it. I think thats what happened.

It's because they CAN'T do it. It's illegal no matter what contract they have. If they refuse to offer him fights for an unreasonable amount of time, they either have to let him go or pay him for the fights left on his contract.
 
does this mean he just can't fight in the US? he could always go back to asia if not, or maybe brazil

Actually Overeem fled the country to to avoid a drug test and didn't even get suspended the 1st time. He jusyt got put on a minor probation in where he had to submite to random tests for a short period of time but was still allowed to fight.

The 2nd time he fled was the time he got suspended for 9 months
