It reminds me of that show “the masked singer “. I have yet to meet anyone who watches itno idea bro.
That's a good comparison, actually. It reminds me of that show “the masked singer “. I have yet to meet anyone who watches it
He was always the haymaker type of puncher who won by volume and aggressiveness. Shogun had the much better standup. As a boxer he would have always sucked.Time for Wanderlei to hang up the gloves. This guy has been sent to the nether realm too many times in his career. He's about 15 years past his expiration date.
Kind of sad, the guy was such a dynamic striker in Pride and all he can do now is wing slow goofy hooks.
Prime Wanderei was more than just a guy who threw hooks. That's all he can do now.He was always the haymaker type of puncher who won by volume and aggressiveness. Shogun had the much better standup. As a boxer he would have always sucked.
I am talking about boxing. His mma clinch is an MT clinch with heavy focus on a headgrip and knees. Thats not possible to execute in boxing. He has no real clinch game in boxing. A good clinch in boxing is quite the sophisticated skill only few posess. Duran was a demon with it. Regarding punches he was always sloppy and threw overhands mostly or hooks with a mediocre at best guard. But it worked well because of his murderous clinchgame und strong lowkicks. But most important Wanderlei never had a sophisticated footwork game in mma and thats something you really need in boxing. Freitas showed him the difference.Prime Wanderei was more than just a guy who threw hooks. That's all he can do now.
He used to be murderous in the clinch, for example. What happened to that? He literally just stands there in a street fighter type , dukes up stance and waits for an exchange where, more often than not, he ends up getting flattened.

In MMA Wanderlei in his prime could often compensate his lack of skill with a incredible cardio, very tough chin, relentless pressure and a often falling into the clinch with his wide punches and then destronying the opponents cardio with his knees. Rampage fight is a perfect example with Rampage having the vastly superior hands but the clinch killed him.
Well and that's the topic here. But that doesn't matter much as he is shot as a fighter for years now and hasn't learned new skills and will not. It's downhill. His brain is mush at this point. He's had one boxing match.
Isn't this pretty much what I said?Well and that's the topic here. But that doesn't matter much as he is shot as a fighter for years now and hasn't learned new skills and will not. It's downhill. His brain is mush at this point.
He never was a good boxer and never will be.
Let's hope he retires for good..
