What do you think?

not a big fan of the assumption that if a champ loses its because they aged. i believe topurias skillset is just better than volks, and if he beats him, it's because he was better not because volk got old.
you think weidman was better than anderson silva?

Topuria has the power to turn Volks lights out. So I say yes, that stat stays intact.

I think once he losses even if it’s a close fight, his fans will say he’s out of his prime without givin any credit to his opponents.

I don’t believe in that shit, being healthy, less/more injuries and strength of competition has more bearing than using age in MMA as metric for a fighters decline.

Valentina and Grasso just had 2 amazing fights and this last one was competitive throughout, yet when the fight was over all you’re seeing is people saying Valentina is out of her prime, instead of giving Grasso her dues.

Same with Adesanya, I’ve seen folks claim he is out of his prime just to create a excuse instead of giving Strickland his dues.

Using age as a metric in MMA is all but a myth at this point, you’ve seen countless fighters still be successful pass the age of 35.

I think Volk is gonna be one of those fighters who get old overnight. When that will be, who knows.

Topuria is the worst matchup possible for Volk. His boxing is more polished, has very good ground game and has shown that he can go all 5 rounds. This is the fight where he loses in my opinion.

The guy has more finishes than he does decisions. I wouldn't say that's someone who plays it safe necessarily.

I love Volk but his fights pre UFC are irrelevant to his finishing rate today. He has mainly decision wins and sometimes he gets a TKO in the UFC.

Since when is 35 old? Hes still getting better!

he still young in mileage tho, being a safe decision machine has its benefits
WTF? He has 28 pro fights, more than 11 years as a pro and has had plenty of 5 round wars on quite a busy schedule.

If you believe guys like Aldo or Fedor had a lot of mileage, you better believe that Volk has a lot of mileage too

Former semi pro rugby forward as well. That has got to add some mileage on him, it’s a brutal sport and although he was physically huge at that point, he was playing against dudes largely much taller than him. Just ran the ball straight through anyone in front of him.

I wouldn't be expecting a sudden drop off from someone that works that hard and hasn't suffered any major injuries or knockouts.

How does a 2006 account say this? You've been around long enough to see it happen many times.

Volk, for everything we have seen, look like a different type of beast when it comes to how serious he is with his physical and mental training. Hence, I could see him avoiding the 35+ curse in the lower weight classes. Then again, father time catches up with everyone.

Lets not, however, ever compare Volk to Issy: When Volk loses to a 145pounder, it wont look like Issy losing to Sean.

Volk is doomed. Osteoporosis has likely already set in right behind his failed hairline. Next his knees will start to lock up when he gets out of bed to pee 100 times a night due to the enlarged prostate. It's sad to see it as Volk is one of the best to do it.

Of course weve seen it before but not only have we seen zero evidence if any drop off but he seems to be improving with every fight.

He has excellent defence, takes little damage, has suffered no major injuries and to the best of my knowledge has never even been knocked out.

Whoever he fights next he's still going in as a big favorite and justifiably so. Thinking he's going to lose now because of an arbitrary date like a birthday is idiotic.

You should know better than this. Or are you a wiz who predicted all of the fall offs that have happened since 2006? Lol c'mon dude. I'm not claiming it's going to happen in his next fight, but someone who has watched mma for as long as you have has to be mindful of the very real possibility when talking about older fighters.

Of course it's possible but due to all the reasons I mentioned above, I believe it's unlikely to occur currently.

Blah blah blah Volk will eat him alive
