Remember, the current death rate of 2% to 3% is achieved through intensive care after China drafted thousands of medical professionals to assist the affected areas. That rate can easily double for regions without access to such large amount of resources.

It is also looking like the local government of Wuhan attempted to cover this up in the beginning, trying to keep it from derailing their publicity events and negatively impacting the economy. Since promotion is based on key economic performance, the Communist party kind of resembles a corporation this way. Whoever could make the numbers look nicest gets promotion first. This blew up in their faces in a spectacular manner. By the time Xi sent his inspectors to check, shit had gone out of control.

Xi is going to purge the shit out of that province for their incompetence and damaging his brand. What we need to realize is that this is a systematic failure and their Chernobyl moment. They fucked up the same way 17 years ago during the SARS outbreak, and they repeated the same mistake this time. Without significant reforms to how China is governed, they will fuck up again the next outbreak.

Now I'm wondering what the actual death toll is. I read some of the comments, they said the guy that took that video was arrested.

China is shutting down businesses in 21 provinces until at least Feb 10th to stop human to human interaction and spread of the disease. These aren't some podunk areas shutting down grocery stores and coffee shops. These businesses on forced holiday make up 80% of china's GDP

There's no way they do that for a virus that has killed only 200 people...
 
My concern is that the response in China is massive compared to the numbers they are admitting. They are responding as if this is way bigger than the numbers they are putting out.

I never thought I would ever say this but at this point I’m thinking Trudeau came into the picture at the perfect time to get voted in. He was voted in by those who are self loathing virtue signaling brainwashed society. And as bad as Trudeau is the people who put him in are worse.
I’m sure he is every bit as pathetic as we think but in all reality he’s only pandering to a society that seems to embrace his shit more than they disapprove of it. Canada has been heading this way a decade or more before Trudeau was even in the party because we have always seemed to follow the European model. As soon as we stop doing that we can fix this shit.

How do the logistics of the business shutdowns work? Most of these residents live in apartment buildings and probably do not stockpile non perishable food. I wonder how long they can impose this.
