If you live in Atlanta you may want to be careful. Apparently flights out of infected areas now being redirected to Atlanta where NIH and CDC have major testing and research areas. The reason is they are better able to handle lots of flights and have the capacity to test people. They also have the only way to test for the virus. EDIT Maryland also has a level 5 isolation ward to deal with this type of infection. They are part of John Hopkins medical research.

Not really, the hospital system has been taking good care of it. None of it is spreading to people who didn't already have it.

Like, the first Chinese person they detected with it, by the time she went to the hospital with symptoms, her husband had caught it from her. Hadn't spread to anyone outside their household. One other person to person transmission that was also spouses in California. Everyone else with it had recently traveled to Wuhan.

When someone catches it just for being in the same airport as the person or a Co worker, then I'll be concerned about it getting a foothold outside China.

What I find curious is those videos and pics make look like there is an holocaust in China.. while in the rest of the world it seems really controlled.
 
This is is not the time for relevant agencies like the CDC to be grossly understaffed.

The WH has made a habit of fighting for big spending cuts to the CDC, NIH, EPA AND HHS in every budget proposal they lump together.

Well China was where it started, and where it was able to spread for a good amount of time and create a foothold before the seriousness of the situation became apparent.

The rest of the world knew how serious it could be by the time we got cases and to take very controlling actions the moment a person back Wuhan exhibits a fever, and those people from the infected area even with just a cough are bringing themselves to Americans and other hospitals sooner than they otherwise would have.

It's like a weed. Wuhan/China needs to uproot it. And it's one big strong system. The rest of the world is just getting loose seeds flying by and landing. And because they're all on high alert, they're able to take care of those seeds before they start growing on their own.

The problem is that its airborne and you are infectious without showing signs. Think of all of the people on the 10+ hour flight being exposed to the virus. People who might not had even been to Wuhan.
