International Virus outbreak in China (and elsewhere)

So I'm reading 1 million infected, and 20,000 deaths if China's history of lying about anything that would be embarrassing, holds true.

This is a lot more likely than the figure you quoted.

It wouldn't really surprise me. I find it hard to believe that they would lock down so much travel and shit for 10k infected.

Exactly, they are hiding something for sure. As long as the rest of world doesn’t pay the price for the lack of action in immediate halt in all travel in and out of China.

Exactly. A world health emergency, flights in and out of China being canceled, world wide flight screenings going on, world markets shifting on any news that comes out about this, for 200 deaths?

where are you reading this?

I ask because my Chinese co-worker is saying similar numbers.

It's like the rule of 3. Ask a girl or guy how many people they have slept with. Divide the guys number by 3, and multiply the girls number by 3.

For China it is the rule of 100. Multiply their number by 100, and you get close to the truth.

I too am skeptical for these very reasons..

you dont' quarantine over 70 Million people for 200 deaths.

are you Chinese?

because this is the exact same formula my Chinese coworker uses.

"take any official number announced by the Chinese government. then multiple it by 100"

The worst case scenario is this Virus entering India... High density plus population

Shit's getting serious. In some places they are sealing people inside their apts. CCP has already admitted the numbers are wrong but nonsense will continue. WHO also punted again and sucking off the CCP. This will end well.

It’s a shame that we can’t see what’s the quarantied cities looks like in China right now so we can learn to prepare it if it goes out of control in the Western world.

Ghost cities gives the opportunity for people to loot shops/houses. Has there been any lootings and rogue people roaming around in quarantied cities? Would police still do their jobs or go on a strike for not wanting to patrol in a quarantied city?

I'm running out of tin foil but my 55 gallon drum of Purell should last.

55 Million+ people under quarantine. Confirmed and suspected cases world wide. Borders closing left and right along with travel bans. Stories of people being locked in their homes or forced into ambulances at gun point. Nurses and doctors being overworked to the point of physical and mental breakdown.

Sounds like one big overreaction if you ask me.

It's not about the current numbers. It's about the potential of the disease to spread, and the seriousness of the symptoms.

The disease is known to be infectious during a long incubation period before the symptoms arise. This makes it insanely easy to spread. The German cases are people who never been in China recently, they casually met a current asymptomatic carrier of the disease, a female from Shanghai, who traveled to their office in Germany. She had relatives from Wuhan visit her prior to the trip to Germany.

People talk about SARS. But SARS, while deadlier at almost a 10% death rate, wasn't as easily spread. Over the 8 month outbreak, SARS only afflicted around 8000 people.

The Wuhan Coronavirus is already blazing past that figure and it's only been less than a month since China got serious about it. If the world health organizations can't contain this, It's going to be a Pandemic level crisis at the rate it's spreading. The death tolls could rise to 3-5% if hospitals get overwhelmed and can't manage the 10-20% of serious cases.

I think it is already a pandemic, and they just haven't reported it yet.

Get used to the idea of hearing on the news that millions have died.

I have already made my peace with it. 1 in 50 chance of dying, probably much lower for someone that is 40.

No mask, no vaccine. Roll them bones, no whammy, no whammy......
