Clearly I am not a history major, but regarding the Viking conquest of (what I would consider) Slavic peoples; From my experience there is a rather distinct shape of the Slavic head that is more akin to Asiatic peoples than that of other Europeans. I would take this to mean there was lesser Viking influence than that of perhaps the Mongols.

Of other parts of Europe I would be inclined to follow spread of the Germanic languages to best grasp the sphere of influence.

in my personal opinion, the scandinavians (before the invasion of the muslims) had the most advanced society in terms of fairness for all. they are highly-taxed because they want their society to ensure that everyone is taken cared of. with this, comes equality and niceness. i italicized niceness because this is the reason why i think the scandinavians have become, "pussified" and don't seem to care that foreigners are raping their women and leeching off their kindness. they don't seem to want to be perceived as mean, so they place their values above, what most of us would think as, "doing what is right", and being aggressive in bringing back some of that aggression that they were know for.

I also want to bring up one point. William the Conquerors granddaughter Empress Matilda married a frenchmen named Geoffrey from Anjou just south of Normandy. So the male line that ruled England was French for some time. It became House Plantagenet of Francia, and known as Angevin Kings of England. The male line from Scandinavia ended then.

Edit, actually it is Stephen who had a french father first. His mother is more viking.

Also the Romanov Dynasty had a big part in making Russia what it is. And I dont think they are scandinavian origin

And also the Kingdom of Sicily, as with England was only in Male Scandinavian hands for a short time. Again, one of their daughters married the Holy Roman Emperor, and they conquered it shortly afterwards, and after them it passed into French Plantagenet Angevin hands.
