*Video* Anderson Silva sparring. Boxing only

This is what sparring looks like from real boxers. And lets be honest Angulo isn't exactly know for his boxing and holloway has since lost twice and fell off anyones radar. The difference is night and day in skill level from the videos in the OP. I'm not trying to down anyone or anything, but people need to get it through their heads, that even Silva isn't that fantastic when it comes to boxing.

Freddie Roach thinks different from you...but what he does he know. Cant you just have fun and watch the greatest MMA fighter spar in boxing without trying to explain to us thats hes not Mohammed Ali

victor ortizs boxing looks like crap but hes doing fine against top competition

same for tons of heavyweights

boxing is overrated as hell

Armchair experts who think text book boxing is the only way to be effective, they are quite overrated...like Sherdogs own "TheStrikingGuy" who always tries to tell us how Anderson sucks because he doesnt use text book tactics. Really???

When has he said that? He's pretty much implied that he gets a chubby every time Silva fights.

Look back at his history...I remember before the Silva/Sonnen 2 fight he had a thread criticizing how bad Anderson's striking is and implied that Sonnen will dominate him. But he forgot that Silva fights Sonnen a certain way for a few reasons. Two name a couple, Sonnen being a south paw, makes Anderson move different and Anderson uses a different blocking technique to guard for a takedown, not respecting Sonnen's power. It makes Anderson look like a rookie boxer but Anderson can do things like that and make them work because hes so far above the level of thinking of armchair experts that you just have to sit back rewrite the book.

You think Sonnen threw that spinning back fist on accident? No. Chael was counting on the backfist and practiced it in training regularly. Sonnen studied Andersons fights and noticed a pattern in Anderson movement and figured Silva would be popping his head back up as soon as the backfist would land creating a devastating knockout. Nope didnt work, Anderson is not a robot, he really is a MMA god and was able to do a crazy double head move to get out of the way and trip Sonnen on his ass and take him out. The point is...you cant look a piece of Anderson's sparring and believe you have him figured. Silva is so far ahead of what 99.9% of us are thinking when it comes to fighting that its laughable when people (mostly nobodies) try to armchair what hes doing.

The only really critical thing I remember him saying about Silva is that his left to right head movement is easily stifled by doubling or tripling up on the same side. That's when he used the tape from him sparring at Roach's gym. Other than that the only thing that jumps out at me is when he said something along the lines of Anderson being porn for striking technique.

Haha, gotta agree with that. Though I believe, in Anderson's case, it's just mere hate. TheStrikingGuy is clearly not a fan of The Spider, lol.

Silva looked much better than these guys and he was playing around, wasn't throwing punches hard like these guys. His technique, head movement and fluidity looked way better.

You're pissing in the wind Caz. Just shout Boss! and Beast! and fit in like a normal person. Obviously MMA fans know better about a subject they don't bother to learn anything about.

Silva's boxing is amateur level at best, but MMA fans want to hear that a guy who got TKO'd in his first boxing match and struggled against a 40 year old who didn't have a single fight to his name, has high level boxing skills. He has good boxing skills by MMA standards, but MMA standards are very low.

Here is the reality of Silva's boxing. He tried something he could easily get away with in MMA, and wound up getting out smarted by a 40 year old who was not only almost half his size and grossly over weight, but had never been in a boxing match before.

I even get excited watching him spar. What a legend.

Both of them use wayyyyy to much unnecessary movement. Silva just looked like he was trying to look pretty, I can't tell if he was trying hard or not. The white guy was pathetic.

Silva showed pretty good foot work in the first video though.

LMAO at unnecessary movement. The movements were 100% necessary. It keeps your opponent thinking and keeps you generally out of harms way. It also gives you many angles to attack from. There's absolutely nothing unnecessary about constantly moving your head and your hands.

Silva was wearing gloves the size of my pillow while the white guy was wearing smaller gloves and headgear. Pretty sure Silva is just helping this guy get ready for a fight by giving him different looks and making him work.
