Usman Nurmagamedov in the UFC

It looks like team abdulmanap have the number 1 and 2 in the lightweight division right now.

If he moved over to the UFC, do you guys think he'd clear the division out?

The only one I can see giving a challenge to Islam/Usman is Arman. But most likely Usman uses his kicking game to dominate him as he's a jacked manlet.

Islam/Usman would be similar to aljo/merab, with Islam getting the big money fights and Usman acting like his bodyguard, clearing out the top 10.
Low key think he would get smashed by a few guys. I even think Dan hangman hooker would be real trouble for Usman. Let alone Charlie or Dustin.

I think it's a pretty good match up for Hooker. He's certainly got the stand up game to deal with Usman, Hooker is a more dangerous striker as well. And I think he handles the grappling as well, Hooker just deal with Gamrot who's a more aggressive and better grappler than Usman. I dont know if I would pick Hooker, but it woudl be a very competitive fight.

I can't say Shabily is a top LW without actually seeing him fight a top LW. We had all these guys come to LW years ago like Guram, Damir, Gamrot, Arman and only one of them managed to do anything significant at LW. And for those guys it took many fights to get a gauge on how good they are.

Shabliy has fought Eduard Vartanyan, Brent Primus, and Tofiq Musaev.

He'd definitely be top 5,...but i have questions about his hands. Dude kicks like a machine but his hands seems oddly uncoordinated. If he improves his striking like Islam did he'd be a beast. I definitely see him becoming UFC LW champ in 4-5 years assuming he keeps improving.

I'd consider Shabliy and AJ McKee top 10 caliber in the UFC for sure. If you think Dan Hooker, Moicano, 36 year old Beneil etc are a "big gap" from Shabliy and McKee you might not know what you're watching.

Don't worry sport, I know what I am watching. I don't doubt the top 3 at LW would do well in the UFC vs their top 10, but I am talking about the competition overall that they are facing. You compare the top 15 from each division and you're gonna get a big skill gap.

Islam and Charles are his only threats

Most other LWs are too one dimensional either in grappling or striking or cant keep up with Usmans speed
Hopefully we see how good Arman's standup is soon and he was giving Islam problems on the ground in their first fight so I still think he would be and issue for anyone. Hooker's style, size and new grappling defense also seems like it could be a problem and be dangerous in the pocket and hookers legs are just as long.

I always said, just wait untill these neckbeards learn how to strike.

I've heard this same story about Islam and Khabib. These guys talent is undeniable

Those guys came up in the UFC and evolved over several years vs that level of competition. They had 9-10 wins before a title fight over several years. You could see them vs different level of competition as they evolve fight by fight. The difference with Usman is that he's already established himself as a champion and would come into the UFC facing the best fighters, but he wouldn't have that foundation that Khabib and Islam have. The fighters he's fought against are not that level of whom Khabib and Islam developed with. And I am sure you know that majority of fighters who go up against top 5-10 opponents on the regular have even records, for the excption of a handful of fighters.

If we're talking about Usman coming in now and taking 4-5 fights and moving up the ranks, I am sure he would do very well once he got into the top 5. But if you throw him in there vs the best guys, that's gonna difficult.

I saw Khabib somewhere saying that Usman needs to bring his hands up to match his kicks

Yeah. Umar really worked on his hands and he's so complete now, Usman needs to put in the same work. But I somewhat get the sense that he doesn't have the work ethic of Khabib/Islam/Umar.

He has the work ethic now, you can tell the progression of comments of his coaching from earlier in his career that this aspect has improved considerably. Javier and Khabib always said that Usman is the most talented fighter they have ever seen. He was the champ in Bellator at 24. Umar is 28 now, and as talented as he is, Usman is still more talented. I don't think his hands are that behind, he just doesn't need to go into fights with a gameplan to win with boxing. He is a complete martial artist, and can pick you apart from range with kicks and safer punches.

Shabliy is probably better than hooker
His hands are some of the best ive ever seen at LW. Too bad he doesnt throw them more. Hopefully he changes after this fight

I'm sorry but i have to question whether Usman really is more talented than Umar. I think the jury is out on that. Out of that entire group Khabib is the most naturally talented followed by Umar imo.

if you go by overall skillset, athletic ability, Khabib is the least talented. On Mental aspects, he is goat level though.
You can question that Usman is more talented than Umar, that's totally fine, I am simply relaying what his coaches that see him daily have been repeating for years now. Usman is a better athlete than Umar, just visually, also as a traditional martial artist myself, I can tell you that he is more fluid as a traditional martial artist than Umar too. He is definitely the more talented fighter in my eyes, however talent is paradoxical and can be a detriment sometimes, and is not always the stamp for success.
