Dude, you're far superior to me. You have A BOOK - at work?!?!? What the fuckkk man. Where can I get this thing you call "a book".

Again, 1000 people are not representative of 300 million - especially in politics.

There are more variables in politics than simple linear models..

If politics were normally distributed just 30 people would be more than enough...

Or so would the so called scientists would want us to believe.

Oh, but I am. At least at this. Again, your assertion is nonsense and based on nothing more than you thinking 320 million is such a biiiiiiiig number. You're like a 5 year old thinking of all the candy he can buy with 10 bucks. I mean, who can comprehend all those zeros? There's sooooo many. Practically dazzling.

Again, you cannot take a poll of 1000 people and then claim that 70% of Americans want DACA and try to legislate on that.

I'm sorry that you're delusional, but that's not how reality works..

It was a public college so no issues there. I always knew there was something tricky about the entire field of statistics.

You must have been poor like me .

Try not to jump in on page 30 without understanding the context. Your brain isn't large enough to handle such large numbers (30).

Figured you'd get super defensive and start trolling. Please tell me more about linear models....

From the Washington Post:

the Democrats decided to take a deal they had turned down only the night before — a less-than-airtight assurance by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that “it would be my intention” to consider legislation that would address those immigrants in the coming weeks, but only if the government were reopened.

The whole thing reminds me of the teacher collecting everyone's homework and coming up with some reason why I didn't do my homework.

Talk about being handed the shitty end of the stick. How do you go back to your like-minded constituents and donors with that one? Tail between the legs...

I'm interested to see how this immigration thing plays out. Will the Dems really reject a DACA bill on the grounds that it funds a wall and ends chain migration+the visa lottery?

Blatant obstructionism didn't seem to hurt the Republicans too much overall under Obama, so maybe. If the Dems really do reject the bill, then do the Republicans kill the filibuster in response?

The Dems have shown that they do not have the stomach to stand for DACA once once the issue is weighed against funding the federal government. The walked away with little more than a promise to avoid a few days of scathing.

I think @Farmer Br0wn 's point on this is pretty convincing. Dems suffer much more politically from any government shutdown.

VA is a swing state that nearly tipped to the Republicans in 2016, and NoVA is heavily dependent on federal dollars.

It is how reality works. The only reason you disagree is because you've never been taught how to use math to analyze, gasp, reality.

Go take a few STEM courses.

What do you do for a living? If you don't mind me asking .

I'm a math teacher. My degree is in Mechanical Engineering. So, like I said, not an expert; but I do get a little rustled when people just dismiss things out of hand.

You have a B.eng in mechanical engineering? What made you go into teaching?
