Trump refused a bipartisan bill so the shutdown happened.

The shutdown happened because the Democrats filibustered a standard CR, trying to mix the issues of funding the government and DACA. It's the same thing the Republicans did in 2013 with the ACA.

Then the Democrats caved after three(!) days, even though the Republicans gave them nothing in return.

They are claiming that McConnell publicly "promised" an up-or-down vote on a "clean DACA" bill.

I listened to McConnell's statement and of course, he said no such thing. The video is below. Here is the exact quotation:

So long as the government remains open, it would be my intention to take up legislation in the Senate that would address DACA, border security and related issues as well as disaster relief, defense funding, health care and other important matters.

It's disturbing. I just listened to Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen on PBS. He was repeating the talking point that McConnell publicly promised a DACA fix. The statement on Youtube, people. McConnell didn't say that.
