US Government Shutdown

The House will never pass a DACA bill. The Republicans are going to use this as a primary issue in the election.
It would pass but Republicans have the Dennis hastert rule where they won't vote on anything unless half the Republicans vote for it. Half the republicans will not vote for anything the senate passes but it would barely pass the house

What about a statute of limitations?

People get away with much more serious crimes in much smaller time frames because of it.

Why does such a minor crime have to be punished so harshly decades after it was committed because the US government failed to do their jobs?
statue limitation doesnt apply to INA law.

so you are saying if an illegal stays in US without being caught until his "statue of limitation" expires, then we will grant him his residency?

the fuck??!!

March 5th is the day trumps extension ends. So trump will either take away protection or he will punt again and do another 6 month extension. If you think those on daca have sympathy just wait until trump takes it away.

Weak border is the wife, America is the cuckold husband who pays illegals to fuck his wife and mow their lawns.
Obama was the cuckhold husband. Trump is the new husband and he aint putting up shit with his whore wife

I'm saying the US government fucked up so royally removal is not a fair option for most of the offenders.

They've had 30 years to do their job in many cases.

They should write that into law. Make it a game. Get Vegas in on the action, too.

Youd think so but I'm not a trump supporter explaining why he's so great

I voted for Trump because I wouldn't vote for HRC. I support the office, but actually don't really like the man much. I'm not explaining why he's anything other than POTUS . . .

I would tend to agree with this . . . the lax border security and other business/agricultural hiring practices have created an out of control issue that can't be put back in the box. I would hope that most folks would understand that every illegal/dreamer isn't being sent home regardless of what is or isn't passed by our legislatures.

They've had 30 years to do their job in many cases.

That's the other issue . . . folks seem to disagree on the extent this job should be completed.

It is a little more complicated than that. DACA is a little different in that kids are brought here and have no idea what living in another country is like nor could they easily adapt anymore. I voted for Trump and in general I am against illegal immigration. But there are problems that we created the caused us to have to be a little flexible at times. I also think Trump was the lesser of two evils. I think a lot of people feel that way. We took the two most polarizing candidates in the history of these elections and put them head-to-head LOL

Even in the Trump base, most don't oppose a pathway to citizenship for the group of people who came at 16 or younger and have no criminal history.

BUT:

1. There is concern that a DACA-like amnesty will happen over and over again as new waves cross illegally (moral hazard)

2. There is concern that the means by which DACA was implemented (executive action) was unconstitutional

I'll say again, I'm fine with exploring amnesty for working "dreamers" but not if we don't do shit to improve our border security. Really, its time that the US stop being a free for all.
That's pretty much the view of the Breitbart base. DACA-like measures will be repeated ad infinitum (say, every 10 years) unless the flow of illegal immigrants across the border is permanently reduced. Hence tying DACA legislation to the wall.

Chuck realized supporting illegal immigrants over citizens was a terrible political platform.

Btw, at least at the onset, media outlets are basically acknowledging democrats caved.

I just woke up to see this...wtf?

So the Democrats shut down the government and then cave three days later with no concessions?

Obviously this is a very unscientific post, but I was seeing a lot of online polls asking who was to blame for the shutdown and they all had democrats leading the pack by a wide margin. Even my local news polls up here in a state that traditionally votes democrat and is very liberal.

I'm glad to see that people have a threshold. Fine, we'll help illegal immigrants but shut down the country for them? Deny benfits, services etc....

oprah-smh-o.gif

Even a guy like Chuck Schumer could see it was too much.

It never stays shut down very long. Get the sand out of your vaginas.

That title

We got McConnell on record again saying that there's gonna be a DACA vote, but the Democrats caved.
Did he actually change his position? I thought his position has consistently been that a DACA vote must be tied to wall/border funding.

Willing to bet your av for a moneth that the White House caves too?

The bet terms would be

DACA is in, concrete wall isnt. I win.

DACA is out, concrete wall is in. You win.

DACA and wall are both out or in then its a tie.
What kind of bullshit is this? Trump has been calling for DACA + the wall for months now.

Burn it down probably not the best approach for the party that does not want less government.
