They didn’t have inaugurations exactly, the VP was simply sworn in as POTUS. For example, JFK: he was assassinated in Dallas and LBJ was sworn in as POTUS shortly afterward on Air Force One. It wasn’t until LBJ won the ‘64 election that he had a proper inauguration.

There aren't ceremonys for those Presidents until they win elections I don't think. Like LBJ got inaugurated on a plane for example. Presidents who become President due to death are serving out the term that ticket won.
